Previous Reservation is required. Proyecto Asis is a Wildlife Shelter and Environmental Education Center located very close to La Fortuna. Wild animals which have been found wounded, forsaken or are rescued from the black market by the local forest rangers are brought here. Those that cannot be released are used within our educational programs. In order to finance our shelter, we offer daily tours and volunteer activities. Schedules: Monday to Saturday at 8:30 am or at 1:00 pm. Sundays Closed. Easy access facilities and trails for all ages.

Carlos is a wonderful tour guide and taught us so much about the animals at Proyecto Asis. We stayed to do the 1 hour voluteering and had a great time feeding the animals.

If you are an animal lover, go. There is a real story behind each animal. The guides are passionate and the venue ultimately is a charity doing good work.

We enjoyed our tour. We learned about the trafficking of animals and how baby monkeys growing up without that mothers can not be returned to the wild.

It would be really unusual to see one in a cage during the tours. Some live here but they are not in captivity , so they can be anywhere. Sometimes we see them, some other times we cannot find them.
