An excellent experience thanks to Blue Pass. We have made the 3-in-1 family combo of suspension bridges + La Fortuna Falls + Arenal 1968 and everything has gone perfect. A whole day of spectacular scenery and we saw many animals, birds, insects, snakes... everything. And the best our Javier Guide, a 10 kindness, knowledge and professionalism. Always attentive to us deserves more than 5 stars. Because of a loss with the cash we were carrying we could not thank him with the huge tip he deserved which I very much regret. Thank you Blue Pass for such a nice experience. Highly recommended this company. If we go back to Costa Rica we will repeat safely with them.

We did a safari float, cafe stop, Fortuna waterfall hike, and local lunch. All along the way we were exceptionally guided and hosted by Andres who taught us about everything from local farming to national economic policies that help to preserve the natural beauty. We ate fantastically well at both stops. Absolutely wonderful host and a fantastic tour for adults and four teenagers alike. Highly recommend!

We took the Arenal Hanging Bridges Tour & Tabacon Hot Springs combined private tour. Our amazing tour guide was Raphael. He picked us up at our hotel around 7:30 and took us to Mistico for the hanging bridges tour. You know its going to be an amazing tour when other tours and people are stopping to look through your guide's scope. Raphael was incredibly knowledgeable and we learned so much from him. He was able to find animals big and small and helped us to get some amazing photographs. He taught us animal sounds and taught us how he finds animals through recognizing habitats. We saw toucans, poisonous frogs, boas, poisonous snakes, hawks, butterflies, warblers, among others. He was also incredibly nice and genuine. The walk for this tour was very relaxing and not too strenuous. The views were incredible and the hanging bridges were very sturdy. After the hanging bridges tour, Raphael dropped us off at the Tabacon Hot Springs for a few hours of relaxation and lunch. Overall we would definitely recommend this tour and if you get Raphael as your guide, you are in amazing hands!

We were only in arenal for 1.5 days so to get the most of it we decided to book a 4-in-1 combo tour though anywherecostarica.com (recommended by a friend) who subcontracted the tour to Arenal Adventures ($212pp).

I cant remember the guide's name but he picked us up right on time from our hostel for our full day tour. For the most part it was almost a private tour cuz it was just me, my husband and 1 other girl on our tour with us. The safari float down the penas blancas river was relaxing and the guide pointed out many plants, lizards and birds. We even saw a bunch of howler monkeys which was exciting. After the ride we got cookies, fruit and drinks. We then went on to the la fortuna waterfall and hiked and swam for a couple hours. The path to the waterfall is a little steep so i wouldnt recommend it to people with mobility problems. Bring water shoes. After the waterfall we at lunch back in town and a nicer restaurant and then picked up a few more people for the volcano hike. The guide knew a lot about the history of the volcano as well as about the plants and trees near by. After the hike we went to the Tabacon hot springs and it was amazing! definately worth the extra $$. The dinner at Tabacon was an american style buffet and was good but not amazing. The guide came back and picked us up around 8:30pm and took us back to the hostel. Great fun filled day!

We took this trip with Carlos as our guide. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. On the journey up to the Rio he stopped the van and set up his telescope so we could see a sloth by the road.

The journey from la Fortuna took a couple of hours. The boats were huge and there were only 2 small parties so it was very comfortable. We were lucky and saw howler, white faced and spider monkeys. We also saw a caiman, iguanas and a Jesus Christ lizard. There were so many birds. It really did feel like a good morning out. We were on the river for a couple of hours. Then we were given a really good typical lunch of rice beans and meat.

We were back in the hotel by 3 so it didn’t feel like all day at all.

Definitely worth doing.

We took the excursion that you hike to the Volcano and we chose Baldi Hot Springs as our ending point. This was a nice hike and lots of vegetation growing in the volcano ashes. Our tour guide was very informative and nice. This is a lot of walking through a cleared path that leads to the base of the volcano, some good photo ops. The only thing is when you get to the base of the volcano, you have to climb the lava rocks to get up high enough to see some great views of Lake Arenal. If your not sure footed & in shape, I don't recommend. But I am one of those people and I did it anyway, it was hard, but well worth it. I am glad I pushed my self. We took the afternoon tour, so we got to see the sun setting on the volcano.

We were promptly picked up at our hotel. Our guide was Carlos and he did an excellent job. We had about a two hour ride in the van to the boat launch. Once wer were on the boat the tour lasted about 3 hours. The guides pointed out several birds, Howler Monkeys and also white faced monkeys. After the tour we stopped at a restaurant and had a delicious lunch of chicken and rice.

This trip was excellent. Our driver picked up up at our hotel on time in a mini van with one other couple who were lovely. We then drove to a fabulous local restaurant for a local lunch and locally ground coffee. It was all very delicious. We then drove to the waterfall and proceeded down the 500 steps! Our legs felt like jelly when we arrived at the falls. After sitting a minute we climbed the rocks to get great photos of the falls. Then we went in the calmer waters down a bit from the falls. It was cold and refreshing! Beautiful place. It took us a long time to climb the steps back up with resting in between but our guide was patient and wonderful. His name was Billy. Our driver was great too, Victor. This tour was worth every penny.

We were supposed to go to Rio Celeste or see the blue water at the waterfall but on our way our guide, Julio, received a call from the office stating that due to heavy rains the prior day the water was not blue but mud. He offered the group an opportunity to change the tour to Cano Negro instead. The group agreed so off we went.

We saw a ton of wildlife and the guides were outstanding at spotting things for us to see as well as explaining the history. While I was a little disappointed of not going to Rio Celeste to see the water, this was a fantastic tour.

I appreciate the company looking out for the guest and trying to offer us the best opportunity for our trip. There was a $100 each difference in the tour cost but I guess this was better than hiking 3 miles in mud to see mud!

Thanks Aventuras Arsenal for your professionalism and for our great guide Julio and drive Lily.

We booked our tour about a day in advance. We were picked up from our hotel by a van with our guide at 7:15. There we a total of eight people on the tour. The ride from La Fortuna to Cano Negro took almost two hours, with a brief stop near the end. The boat was waiting for us when arrived, a large boat with space for about 50 people, but we were only eight so there plenty of space to move around and see wildlife from any angle. Our guide was very knowledgable. He spoke good English, was friendly and humorous. The guide and the boat driver have a sharp eye for the wildlife. We got to see plenty of animals of every time you’d expect, monkeys, iguanas, birds, caymans, lizards, you name it. The Rio Frio was over its banks due to heavy rains in the previous days. The caymans were hard to spot with all the river banks submerged, but we did spot one. We enjoyed beautiful weather and a wonderful, very satisfying tour. On the way back we received a simple Costa Rican meal before heading back to our hotel. We were back by about 3pm. Overall, an excellent experience!
