While we didn't have time to partake in the water activities at the lake, we found lots of opportunity to get involved if we had had time. It's an easy drive to the dam, and there are plenty of vendors there at the dam offering boating/kayaking activities.

The kayaking experience in this lake was great! Most of our group were first timers, but the guides gave us enough information to navigate the lake without any issues. The views seen during this excursion were nice! The kids were given a chance to swim in the water and learn how to get back on the kayak.

Beautiful lake, it is huge! Wind surfing, fishing, kayaking, and lots of other activities! We didn't explore this area as much but want to return and do so.

One of a kind area...springs get cooler as you venture farther from the hot pools. Swim up bar, and food in restaurant was very well prepared. One of those "don't want to miss" sites. Spent about 3 hours there, but wish we'd had time to spend a whole day.

We drove all the way around the lake and it took hours, of course; it's Costa Rica! The vistas are fabulous.

We were driving from Arenal to Monteverde around the Lake Arenal. Great views ! No dedicated view points necessarily at all, but still you can see a lot just by driving around: lots of green, water, ...

Lake Arenal is an easy 25 minute drive from La Fortuna. We rented kayaks from a man at the dam for $20/each for 2 hours, which was much better that the $65/each being offered by the resort! If this lake were in America it would be packed with boaters and jet skis; but here, it's as if you stumbled upon... More

If you visit the Arenal Volcano, you have to drive around the lake...or at least part of it. The views are gorgeous...from the lush jungle that you drive through, or the beautiful vistas of the lake below that suddenly open up. Lots of opportunities for great photos here. If you have the time, go slow.
