Spent more than two hours visiting with these birds and animals. Beautiful, peaceful setting and heartening to know these rescue animals are so well cared for. What I missed seeing in the wild I had the chance to see here. Staff are friendly, the location is convenient and accessible (self-drive, taxi or public bus), and the restaurant has delicious, affordable... More

We visited the Rescate Animal Rescue site as well as the Chocolate Tour and both attractions were well worth their money! The animals were well taken care of and the chocolate tour was phenomenal !

This attraction was with Caravan Tours. It's a great wildlife sanctuary with a variety of animals and birds. Nicely paved grounds that you can take a leisurely walk around. And there is a bamboo forest that is unlike anything I've seen before! There is also a small area to get ice cream. Well worth taking a walk thru.

I loved checking this zoo out. They have English signage to describe the animals. It is great for a 2-3 hour place to kill some time and learn about the animals they have there. They called me a cab so I could get back to the hotel before flight home.

Zoo Ave is a wonderful experience that allows you to see many of the animals that inhabit Costa Rica up close. In contrast to many zoos, nearly all of the animals and birds are visible in their enclosures much of the time. The monkeys and big cats were particularly interesting, though the wide variety of birds was also remarkable. Zoo... More

We took a tour deom our Hotel (Xandari) in Alajuela above San Jose. Our driver suggested he return in 1 1/2 hours to pick us up. I do wish we would have had at least a 2 hour visit, because my daughter and I are all about the details. We appreciated that the animals.were so healthy. Their enclosures were very... More

We had a great time at Zoo Ave, We took the bus from San Jose to Alajuela, and then from Alajuela to La Parita. The bus ride itself is a bit of an adventure. The kids loved Zoo Ave. Zoo Ave is a wildlife rescue group, they have a beautiful property, with plenty of wildlife to see. The guides/hosts are... More

The main reason we chose Costa Rica for our big family adventure was ANIMALS. Getting to see so many, right up close, on the afternoon of our arrival in the country, was a great way to start our visit. We all appreciated the care the animals receive, and the educational aspect of Zoo Ave for local children and families.

If you are looking for a place to spend a half a day with kids this is a good option. They have a lot of local birds and wildlife to look at. One thing that should be noted is there are is a lot of up and down walking so if you are physically impaired this may not be the... More
