Zoo Ave is a wonderful experience that allows you to see many of the animals that inhabit Costa Rica up close. In contrast to many zoos, nearly all of the animals and birds are visible in their enclosures much of the time. The monkeys and big cats were particularly interesting, though the wide variety of birds was also remarkable. Zoo... More

We took a tour deom our Hotel (Xandari) in Alajuela above San Jose. Our driver suggested he return in 1 1/2 hours to pick us up. I do wish we would have had at least a 2 hour visit, because my daughter and I are all about the details. We appreciated that the animals.were so healthy. Their enclosures were very... More

We had a great time at Zoo Ave, We took the bus from San Jose to Alajuela, and then from Alajuela to La Parita. The bus ride itself is a bit of an adventure. The kids loved Zoo Ave. Zoo Ave is a wildlife rescue group, they have a beautiful property, with plenty of wildlife to see. The guides/hosts are... More

The main reason we chose Costa Rica for our big family adventure was ANIMALS. Getting to see so many, right up close, on the afternoon of our arrival in the country, was a great way to start our visit. We all appreciated the care the animals receive, and the educational aspect of Zoo Ave for local children and families.

We visit Zoo Ave.We understood that here they support wild live in Costa Rica .We celebrate this idea. What we did not undertstand is why they charge tourists for their entry tiket so much more than they do for locals .It became for us belgians a very expensive visit !

Very enjoyable zoo with a great selection of animals. Tons of birds and monkeys. Well kept and organized. Mission oriented too. Giant tortoises were very "frisky". Fun place to spend a few hours and see some animals you missed in the forest.

We were lucky to be there early enough in the day that many of the animals were still active. It was good to see many of the animals closer up than we were able to see them later on in the wild.
