I had an amazing experience at the rescue center! I stayed there for 6 weeks together with my friend. I would recommend to stay at least 4 weeks because there is a lot to learn and it might take time to get into the routine. Though shorter than 4 weeks would also just be as fun! I had so much fun working with the animals and the people, and the staff was very helpful. It’s also a good opportunity to become friends with different people from all around the world! The only negative thing I would say is that sometimes there were to many people for the work that we had.

My time spent at Rescue Centre Costa Rica was amazing! The people here are wonderful and there is so much great work being done. As a volunteer I felt welcomed, cared for, and valued. During my time here, I made so many meaningful connections and learned a lot about all of the animals. I stayed 2 weeks, but wished that I could have stayed longer! I highly recommend staying at least 3-4 weeks to get the full experience.

Great experience; the Rescue Center team is really welcoming, and warm and does its best to make sure everything goes well. The respect and well-being of the animals are really the priority. I recommend this place for volunteers who want to get involved and work for the animals' cause!

Rescue was a wonderful day. We arrived early in the day and volunteered all day. Lunch was good, helped prepare food for animals, and assisted in the feeding. They keep you away from harmful ones (monkeys). Walked the animal loop several times, interacted with volunteers. Highlight was the late afternoon of the sloths. It was a very fulfilling day. Would definitely go back and highly recommend a visit here or volunteering for the day.

I volunteered at the rescue center for 1,5 weeks, I had a great time there and loved taking care of the animals. The staff really cares about the animals, they only started the center three years ago (right before covid), and are still trying to improve the place every day. I had such a good time with all the other volunteers. If you can, I would definitely recommend volunteering here! Otherwise, come for a tour and learn about the animals :)

Great visit! Definitely worth the time and happy to have the money go towards what they are doing. Moses was our tour guide and did an excellent job showing us the property and sharing all the animal stories with us. We would come back.

I stayed here for a week, but wish I could have stayed longer! It's beautiful there, the staff is so accommodating! You can tell they love their jobs- I mean, who wouldn't! Volunteering here was a dream of mine for a couple of years, and it was so worth it. You are busy while working your shift, but have plenty of free time, too. The food was great. The weather was amazing! I just can't say enough good about this place!

Fascinating opportunity to volunteer, make friends from around the world, and work with the animals . I have nearly finished 3 weeks of volunteering at the centre. I am really enjoying it and have learnt so much about the animals of Costa Rica. As with any volunteering, you must be prepared to live and work as part of a team. There is a range of accommodation, mostly shared. The water is safe to drink, and you get 3 meals a day- catering for all diets. There is a supermarket and coffee shop in walking distance if you want to have treats or supplement your meals. There is also a free, efficient laundry service. There is an entertainment programme and opportunities to go on day trips to other parts of Costa Rica. You get one day off a week. There is a curfew with regard to returning to the centre in the evenings - which is there for your iwn safety. For me, I was amazed at the amount of help and advice available with regard to onward travel, or exploring on your days off. The organisers treat you as a family member and will do their best to sort any problem you may have. I was very thankful for this. Lastly as a mother I would be happy for my sons to come here on their own. I know they would be safe and looked after. Most importantly the animals are fabulous. It has been a pleasure to work with them.

I was fortunate enough to be able to spend two weeks at the Costa Rica Rescue Center. It was an amazing experience and I hope to be able to go back soon. I’m a rehabber so I was able to be a part of the vet team during my stay. I learned so much during my time there and while two weeks sounded like a lot initially, it went by so fast and I wished I could have stayed longer. The entire center takes such good care of the animals and do everything they can to get them back into the wild where they belong. I love their emphasis on keeping them wild and teaching that these animals are not pets. For those who are not able to be released they do such a wonderful job of giving them a good life and making sure they are healthy and well taken care of. The center itself is run by several amazing women who do a great job of making the volunteers feel they are part of the family and taking care of their needs while they are there. The area itself is incredible and very safe. We were able to walk into town by ourselves or in groups and had no trouble at all. Everyone is very friendly. I would absolutely recommend this location if you are considering volunteering.

Wow, my expectations were very high, but this experience is below everything. It’s huge family that communicates, laughs, talks and respects. You can be your self, you can see the reality of your work: you’ll be sad, you’ll cry for the defeat and losing, but you’ll feel something without a name when an animal is doing great. You can’t pet them, you can’t establish a relationship human-animal, but you can feel the true love of being one of the people that helped him be and live in it real life, without someone that tells it how to do: they are gonna be free in their own nature. After watch them in the eyes, with your melted heart, you understand empathy, joy, and another world. It’s not just animals, it’s the people you’re gonna work with: they understand, they don’t judge, they are just gonna share their breath and their heartbeats with you.
