First, the place is so peaceful and quiet. We rented one of the waterfront cottages. We originally were staying in one of the A-frame cottages. We arrived late in the day and the places was so hot. We turned on the air and went out to the dock to do a little late fishing while waiting for the place to cool off. Few hours later we went back in and the temp hadn’t budged. 78 degrees. We called the after hours number and the lady was kind enough to move us to the cottage next door. The place was perfect. As soon as we walked in, the air was on blast and sooooo much better. Summer in the south ain’t no joke!! The down side is we fished all day off the dock and didn’t get a single bite. Really grassy water. We went to the camp side to catch a few. Other than that, it was perfect. Both the A-frame and the ranch style cottages were equally nice but I’d have to say the ranch style was better only because it had a screened in porch and the A-frame had no roof over porch so it would not be good place to sit if it rained. Definitely will be back

Beautiful surroundings and cottages were kinda out dated with worn furniture and outdated tvs with remotes that didn’t work. Could use some new paint and up grades inside and out. We had 3 cottages and #5 had no air conditioning for the first night and it was 84 degrees inside. I reported this to the office the next day and it was repaired but no apologies from the management or any refunds were offered. The girl on duty seemed unconcerned and lacked some personal skills in customer service. The golf course personnel were helpful and friendly at both courses. Thanks for a good golf weekend except for the cottages.

We stayed in our RV for a long weekend and a fishing tournament for my nephew's high school fishing team. The office staff was very friendly and we had a really nice site on the water. We plan on visiting again here in a couple of weeks!

I’m currently on the list for a monthly lot and every time I contact management I somehow move farther down the list a month ago I was told I was 2nd on list and this week somehow I am 7th. Management was extremely rude when questioned about this. She has a terrible attitude and informed me she was the boss and that’s just how it was going to be. Will not stay here ever again

Very disappointed in the management of the campground. On May 20, 2020, my husband arrived at the campground at Goosepond Colony—one we frequented last summer and enjoyed immensely with our four young children. After some back and forth debate with another patron, the manager on duty admitted she moved the reservation notification from the site she agreed upon and assigned another patron to that camp site instead. She then asked my husband to disconnect our camper and move to a different site.
This act is completely unethical and very unsound business practice. Not only are our children devastated that they are now unable to enjoy a fun camping trip with family and friends, but we are exceptionally frustrated at the amount of time, effort, energy, and resources we have now wasted in preparing for this trip only to turn around and come home.
Unfortunately, this employee has not performed at a level of acceptable professional decorum and should not be allowed to hold a position dealing with the public. I am unclear why the manager decided it wouldn’t be necessary to address this issue in a morally and ethically upstanding manner—by acknowledging her lapse in judgement and maintaining the agreement established prior in allowing my family the camp site agreed upon. While I understand the bottom line is making money, the example set before my four young children was clear in that there are people they will deal with that do not do the right thing.

I have tried for months to get a site at Goose Pond Campground. I have driven through periodically and see the same campers on the short term sites. I was given an information packet when inquiring about a site. Their policy is supposed to be a two week limit but the manager is not enforcing this rule. Other rules are not being enforced either like kids on bikes without helmets and young children driving golf carts without an adult. We have decided to camp at another campground even though we have always staid at Goose Pond.

Better cleaning process as mice ate my bread and had droppings on kitchen table!!! Then in my fruit bowl I found droppings the last morning. I did not report until after I checked out so it was too late for any discount. Office said they would have put out traps if I had called while still there. Cottage # 6 BEWARE IF U GET THIS COTTAGE!!! No discount offered so I am letting everyone know! This place is beautiful at first glance. After staying four nights things were different. First night I had red mold in my coffee pot not a good start. I cleaned coffee pot myself without reporting red mold so my fault. Who wants to complain after traveling for 9 hours to arrive, you just want to drop bags and unwind so I cleaned it so I could have a tasty fresh cup of coffee but I did not report to office as it was after hours. At bath time there was inches of red and black mold on two shower curtains several inches high. I reported to maid next morning and she brought fresh shower curtains. Then the toilet paper holder would fall off the wall, reported that and they came quickly to repair. Last morning there we woke to broken water main pouring down our sidewalk, called twice to emergency number of Goose Pond to report but no one answered so water ran for hours making for slippery and sloppy loading of car. Screen porch was full of holes in screen so mosquitoes and flies had easy access to our skin. I requested a screen porch hoping for pleasant stay but wrong again. Was planning on bringing about 75 people there for huge family reunion but not now we will find somewhere else to go. All of these things should have been done instead of me having to complain every time I did find a problem. You do not go on vacation paying those prices to complain, so sad.

Campground isn’t clean and maintained like it has been for years. Lots trashed. Cars parked in available sites. Management not letting folks on site as she saves/ prebooking for other… while there isn’t supposed to be reservations at this ground. Manager hateful at times when asked questions.

I was there with my family for the 4th of July week. It was the worst experience my family has ever had. The main problem was the manager disregarding the rules and safety of the other campers. She allowed fireworks to be set off in the campground and when I asked her about it she was completely rude to me and said she was the boss and she made the rules. She’s terrible at her job. She let 5 year olds ride around the campground in golf carts in the middle of the night. The place was nice and I think it could be a lot better with new management because the current manager ruined my whole trip.

The camp ground is completely in level. The front desk people are great! The security people approached me tonight in an aggressive manor, telling me what I need to do and how to do it. The two guys were completely rude and had no idea of what happened. I will never stay here again nor recommend it. The two security guards know nothing and will just tell you what you need to do. Fyi! No arrows or nothing to show you directions. Do not go here

I live in the Fort Payne area and was wondering if you allow public fishing?
Written March 12, 2020
Called and were told they don't take reservations. Have to call day of and see if a site available. Is this correct? I wanted to try your campground but cannot take a week off work with no notice pending availability of a site.

Hi Kristi,
The campground does not take reservations but usually the only time they are completely full is on holidays. If you call and speak with the manager, Selena Holloway, she can help you with this.

After age 65, does one need to have a fishing license? If so, can we buy license at Goose Pond?
Also, can someone rent a pontoon boat if they have only car driving license - not boat operator's license? Thanks for your answers.
Written July 22, 2016
not sure if you need one or not after 65 but, they have a tackle/grill etc, to buy one.
