Beautiful place to visit
Sep 2017 • Friends
When you happen to be around Songjiang, visit this place! It's beautiful, and not crowded at all when we went.

Unbellivable restaurant inside
May 2017 • Couples
We have visited many temples in Shanghai but rarely of this quality. Try to visit the temple at areoubd 11h00 and then do NOT miss the vegetarian restaurant inside the temple kept by monks. Try the Chrysanpthemeus salad ... over all an unbellivable experience.

Best Vegetarian Restaurant!
Jul 2016 • Friends
This temple is small and quiet, and has an excellent restaurant. You can eat lunch and then take a tour of the temple, and of course, visit the gift shop. You can also pay 5RMB and feed the koi fish. It is a place to have a nice meal and then stroll around the area.

Location error!
Apr 2016
Your map and address location is wrong by about 30 km! The street address is right, but it is the one in Sonjiang, NOT Gubei.

Nicely maintained Buddhist temple
Feb 2016 • Friends
Most of us Chinese ex-pats tend to say if you've seen one Chinese temple, you seen them all. While Chinese Buddhist temples do have the same basic layout, I think there are enough differences and beautiful things to see, that the saying is not entirely true. This temple is quite worth seeing when you are in Songjiang.

One of the young monks even spoke good English, and engaged me and my friend in conversation. He was a charming person and made us feel very welcome in the temple, even though we were the only (very) white people there!

I enjoy Buddhist temples very much and find them peaceful despite the usual cacophony of the worshipers and visitors. The temple grounds and structures are always so photographable, and this one is no different.

This temple may have functioned in old times as the guard tower as well since the drum tower and belltower are both in the temple grounds.

Like the mosque, this is only a few blocks away from metro station Zuibaichi, line 9.

Songjiang's Slender Ancient Pagoda
Feb 2015 • Couples
Xilin Pagoda is one of the centrepieces of Songjiang's historic district. It was originally built in the Xianchun reign (1265-1274) of the Southern Song Dynasty but it collapsed and was rebuilt in 1387 during the Hongwu reign of the Ming Dynasty.

Built of brick and wood the pagoda is an octagonally shaped structure of seven stories with a stone staircase built inside which is still intact. For many years the pagoda was in a terrible state of disrepair with only the verandas and brick-body of the pagoda remaining. In 1992, the wooden super-structure was rebuilt as the original style of the Song Dynasty. This elegant pagoda is now the highlight of this colorful old temple. Entrance to the temple grounds costs 6 yuan.
