Bring your own material if you want to tailor made cheongsam in Changle Road or Maoming Road. It's cheaper and takes only 3 days to complete. This shop charges 600yuan for cotton materials or 800yuan for silk material. It's is only 4 shops away from the famous shop Hanyi - whose tailor made cheongsam for the movie "Mood for Love".

We saw a display green cheongsam blouse with hand stitched flowers. We wanted a different colour and requested a made-to-measure blouse with the same flower designs. The manager took out a catalog of sample coloured materials for us to choose. The cost is 1400 yuan. It is more expensive as it needs to stitch the flowers. The manager honestly told us that the seamstress uses a hand-machine to stitch. This blouse took 2 weeks to tailor-made and was air mailed to our country.

Directions: Take metro train to South Shannxi Station Line 1, Exit 3, turn left and walk towards Changle Road. About 15 minutes.

If you are a walker, this is a nice place to meander... The best stretch along Changle Lu is between Wulumuqi (to the west) and Shaanxi (to the east). Lots of good places to shop and eat. Also check out parallel streets: Julu, Anfu, and Xinle. All of these streets cater to foreigners... But still have flair of local Shanghai life.

I never got bored riding my bike at Changle Road and those alleys surrounding the areas - French Concession Area of the old part of Shanghai. The amazing part of Changle Road is not about the road itself but the surrounding and all those little unique shops, authentic restaurants and old-times residences lots over the streets, not to mention the comfortable, shadowing grown trees along the two sides of the roads. Lot of old houses are tearing down in this part of the city, so, as you read, things could already been dramatically changed faces. It either stayed that ways, or becoming another huge and less-tasteful shopping mall.

This is my street so naturally, I find it very interesting any time of day. The corner of Changle Lu and Fumin Lu has a Coffee Bean and Cantina Agave, their outside seating reserved for those who want to see and be seen. In the late afternoon, the "beautiful people" begin to arrive for Margaritas and nachos while others may stop by for an afternoon coffee. Meanwhile, in the morning hours, the scene is quite different. Carts of homewares, vegetables, fish, and live chickens, be-headed and plucked right on the spot, are available for the local housewives. In the very late evening, the corner comes alive with food carts of wonderful smelling street food and murmured offers of hashish while young Chinese flock to a popular nightclub. To spend the day on this corner, one can view the entire array of Shanghai life from morning to night!

I love Changle road as it is a relatively narrow road, and it still gives the feeling of old Shanghai with many authentic buildings and houses still in place, many nice shops and small restaurants.Bus line 26, an electric bus runs through it.

Visited this area on a lovely sunny day and it was a very pleasant area to walk around in. Nice tree lined streets, cafes, and small independent shops. You can see where Shanghai gets the ‘Paris of Asia’ description from around here.

Recommended by the concierge a very long older road tree lined with some unusual looking boutiques along the way. A mixture of old and new fashion and tailoring shops and adult shops too. The road goers on and on. Seems popular with locals especially. A few food places but not many along the way.
