The Multimedia Theatrical Spectacular 'ERA Intersection of Time' has been performed since its debut at Shanghai Circus World in September 2005. It is unique and comparable to the tradition of the Broadway Musical. It is in fact a stunning acrobatic show combining traditional Chinese arts and modern technologies. The performers present Chinese acrobatics, martial arts and dance perfectly in harmony with the music, sound, lighting, and other special effects, which include a water screen. While you marvel at the highly proficient skills of the performers, the story of China's evolution from its ancient past to the future is told. Hence, the title 'Intersection of Time', as the viewpoint of the audience is set in the present between the past and the future. The performance provides a wonderful insight into China's ancient culture and civilization, with sections about Sinan, an ancient Chinese invention for telling directions, soothsaying and conjuring. There is a fantastic section showing an acrobatic program which has elements performed since the far off days of the Han Dynasty (206BC–220AD). With porcelain jars and vats as their stage properties the performers give an overview of Chinese porcelain culture and greater understand of the country's name of 'China'.Modern achievements that are also showcased include Shanghai Donghai Cross-Sea Bridge, Maglev Train, and Shenzhou 5, China's first manned space mission. From these, you can see the amazing development and bright future of Shanghai and the whole country. The 100-minute performance shows not only artistic skills, but also creativity. Aided by multimedia including vision, original live music, sound effects, smell effect, air conditioning and lighting,

I thought I was going to be bored as I have seen so many Cirque Du Soleil performances and after seeing a Cirque performance other circus performances just don't measure up. WAS I WRONG! This circus is AMAZING! Very talented performers that keep the pace...More

Came with a tour group to watch the Circus, very very enjoyable. My arms and shoulders were stiff and sore the next morning from all the applauding I did. The show is very entertaining, the cast are very talented indeed. The wheel of death with...More

The season is limited and the show will soon move on. The most impressive thing for me were the 8 motorcycles in the sphere. The shadow play of the gymnastics was a really beautiful. Good show, very well worth while.

Overall good show, is more the quality and polish of a “America’s Got Talent” show than say a Cirque du Solei. But some very talented acrobatics that is for sure.

We attended ERA as an extra on our tour. It’s a nice venue with good seats. The show was great with some very talented artists. Had an expensive gelato at interval. Nice entertainment for a night in Shanghai. There is dining options nearby.

We enjoyed the show immensely - we can understand why it has been going on since 2005. Lots of variety and action - great dancing and great acrobats on the floor and above us. Just the right amount of time (about 1.5 hours). We came...More

The experience of seeing it live is always different especially the motorcycle act. Got the cheapest tickets as what others said and the view was great. Popcorn sold at the entrance was a rip off though.

Thought of seeing something different in China circus . But it’s just purely the same old tricks and shows seen in other places . Nothing much to entice us seriously . Prices are not cheap either . Not worth the penny .

From our concierge, they said ERA has more stunts, more elaborate feats. Happy Circus is geared towards children.
