The Multimedia Theatrical Spectacular 'ERA Intersection of Time' has been performed since its debut at Shanghai Circus World in September 2005. It is unique and comparable to the tradition of the Broadway Musical. It is in fact a stunning acrobatic show combining traditional Chinese arts and modern technologies. The performers present Chinese acrobatics, martial arts and dance perfectly in harmony with the music, sound, lighting, and other special effects, which include a water screen. While you marvel at the highly proficient skills of the performers, the story of China's evolution from its ancient past to the future is told. Hence, the title 'Intersection of Time', as the viewpoint of the audience is set in the present between the past and the future. The performance provides a wonderful insight into China's ancient culture and civilization, with sections about Sinan, an ancient Chinese invention for telling directions, soothsaying and conjuring. There is a fantastic section showing an acrobatic program which has elements performed since the far off days of the Han Dynasty (206BC–220AD). With porcelain jars and vats as their stage properties the performers give an overview of Chinese porcelain culture and greater understand of the country's name of 'China'.Modern achievements that are also showcased include Shanghai Donghai Cross-Sea Bridge, Maglev Train, and Shenzhou 5, China's first manned space mission. From these, you can see the amazing development and bright future of Shanghai and the whole country. The 100-minute performance shows not only artistic skills, but also creativity. Aided by multimedia including vision, original live music, sound effects, smell effect, air conditioning and lighting,

For the most part, the show is good. The performers are highly skilled, performing stunts on bikes, motorcycles, using props from vases to stilts, and a lot of contorting. The overall show is about 2 hours, so if you're in the neighborhood, it's a decent time to bring your kids while touring around Shanghai. The only problem we had are,... More

I am not a fan of circuses but the Acrobatic Show we saw there was absolutely fantastic. The skill on display, on ropes, cycles, wires, trampolines, giant wheels and on motorcycles was beyond compare, each act seeming impossible to follow but they followed it! It is not cheap but well worth the money.

"Happy Circus" is the "other" circus at "Shanghai Circus World". Its hidden down the back 200m behind the more famous ERA in the dome. 3 huge choreographed tigers, a sunbear playing basketball and riding a bicycle with a monkey and some very talented poodles and a sea lion + some great human traditional acts. You could never believe this exists... More

I recommend this to anyone going to Shanghai. The show didn't have the theme of Cirque de Soleil, but the acrobats did more risky tricks (all very well) and seemed to be overall more skilled. We enjoyed every single act, but I thought I would have a heart attack when they had 8 motorcycles doing loops inside a huge iron... More

Although at Shanghai Circus World - it's the Era Acrobatic Show. The show was spectacular! Couldn't believe half the stunts they managed to do. Hands sore from clapping so much. Bought cheap tickets (120 RMB - price to rise in October) morning of the performance and seats were great. Some acts directed purely at VIP seats but small, circular theater... More

Even our 1 year old baby was so excited whole 1,5 hours show that she stayed in my arms not wanting to run around. She was not even afraid of the lights and voices. Our 7 and 9 years sons were happy too to see this show. I liked a lot too. Only negative issue was that I would like... More

It was one of the most horrifying sights, i ever had in my life! Of course mostly in a positive way. I kept screaming with every jump or action of every acrobat, right from the beginning, as they all were performing without safety belts, just to impress the crowd... which is already scary enough for me, as Law of accidents... I was certainly not disappointed in the show...lots of action, music and colour. Really fun for children of all ages. Probably because I have not been to a circus since my younger days of the Barnum and Baily my impression overall was that the earlier circuses were more active and had more exciting acrobatic acts.

Phenomenal show, wish that there were other types of shows that I could've gone to see. The bicycling was probably the best part (not the motorbikes to be clear).
