Tianzi Fang is famous for small craft stores, art studios, cafè and narrow streets. It is a popular tourist attraction in Shanghai. The architecture is an example of the local shikumen buildings. Highly recommended!

Tianzifang is a great shopping area. Small pedestrian streets that have shops and restaurants galore. You can wander for over an hour and quite possibly get lost. If you can find Tai Thai Restaurant I highly recommend this place to dine....go upstairs - watch you head on the spiral staircase.

In Taikang Road, about in front of the Starbucks Coffee you go inside the area entrances then you are like in a different places, different towns. Small shops everywhere selling things for tourists, cheap stuff for locals, but also some local foods to eat on the spot. Good atmosphere. You need to get lost inside the tiny streets. In any case you can reach a street outside the shopping areas where taxis are looking for tourists.

Nice collection of streets loaded with shops that sell artisan or hipster stuff. Still quite overpriced and aimed to get tourists spending too much money,,,

This is a very crowded market. Small streets twist and turns and is packed with vendors selling their wears. Restaurants, jewelry, tea, clothing hats, photography, purses, art, kids toys, you name it, this place has it. A really interesting cultural experience.

Tianzifang is a beautiful old Chinese neighborhood, where initially many artists and handicraftsmen worked. The urbanization is beautifully renovated and looks nice, but the content is very touristy, everything is targeted at tourists. The neighborhood consists only tourist shops and eateries with a few artists and handicraftsmen. In the streets, the beautifully restored facades almost completely obscured by lanterns, Christmas decorations and other types of lighting and advertising. It was very crowded.

Good place to visit if you want to buy something handmade as a souvenir from Shanghai. Nmshort narow streets, good for photos. The place itself is little maze, but it's managable.

A touristic arts and crafts enclave that has developed from a renovated traditional residential area in the french connection area of Shanghai, China. It is now home to boutique shops, bars and restaurants. Worth spending a few hours meandering within the small alley and lanes.

This market is quite large with lots of cute little stores but also a fair bit of junk (food and otherwise). In general, however, it is much better than many other tourist traps in town. One hint: if you're looking for something specific then use the great navigation tool they offer at taikanglu.com (both chinese and english version available), where you can search for individual stores and zoom in the detailed map: highly recommended! My favourite place is Pureland, with their elmwood-embedded painted ceramics that make for great gifts. All places accept zhifubao so you can buy as much as you want without carrying any cash around.

Lots to look at. Plenty to try. Variety of visuals and smells. Still have dodgy vendors trying to rip off unsuspecting foreign guests.
