I've been living in Shanghai as an expat for many years now, never before tried some of the cooking classes that are on offer in town, shame on me! My experience was totally awesome, the dishes we cooked as authentic as they could be, i would recommend it to everyone, especially the travellers who are new to the country, because you don't only get a great cooking experience but a cultural & history lesson, too. You will be cooking with people from all around the world in a nice environment, highly recommended!

Refreshing Getaway

Thank goodness to the few days I got off of work during my business trip in Shanghai, because I got to attend this great cooking class. I must say it was nothing like I had ever experienced, mostly because the program was well-organized and partly because I am a rather novice cook. The wet market was absolutely filled with amazing produce and food. No one would go hungry there. When we got back to the kitchen it was time to cook, and thanks to the great staff, we were able to make delightful and authentic dishes.

Kitchen by the Garden cooking class was very good. I enjoyed very much because people were nice and cooking variety of dishes was interesting. I only cooked similar foods because I did not have many experiences with other kinds of food. The types of dishes we prepared were very palatable and pretty. I strongly recommand this cooking class for all people visitng the beautiful city Shanghai and have wonderful experience that I did too. I wish to come back again and meet friendly people more and cook together. Thank you Kitchen by the Garden!

Enlightening
Aug 2014 • Couples
To be honest, I was not all that excited when my wife first came into our hotel room, raving about the cooking class she just signed us up for. I agreed to go because I thought we might as well do things we wouldn't normally do while we're traveling. I have to admit, I stood corrected. I didn't think cooking with exotic foods could be so enlightening. I guess that's why people say food is a window into culture. I have the instructor (and my lovely wife!) to thank for such a great experience. We'll be back for sure.

Interesting Encounter
Jul 2014 • Family
This cooking class has got to be the most interesting things I've encountered in Shanghai. The facilities at Kitchen by the Garden were lovely, as were the people. The dishes we prepared were also pretty fantastic, if I do say so myself. I consider myself an active person, so having to cook from scratch (regardless of the fact that I am a terrible cook) was a great way to get involved in the community, at least temporarily. Since I am planning to be going back next year (lucky me!) I will be sure to drop by again.

I have to say It’s the best team-building activity I have ever seen. The wet market tour was so impressive. We bought the ingredients by ourselves ,as a team,we were so happy that we can solve all the problems together.During the cooking process,Yuanyuan guided us to make such great food, they are simple to finish but delicious as well.It was my first time to cook by myself,I was always worried that I could not make it out. What’s more, the environment is great and comfortable!I love it and I am looking forward to the next activity with kitchen by the garden!

Registering for a cooking class by Kitchen by the Garden was one of the best decisions I've made during my vacation. The wet market was nothing like I had ever seen, with such a plethora of produce and foods. In the kitchen, we cooked all of the dishes from scratch; it really gave the dishes that homemade taste. This experience was quite a therapeutic one, especially in the midst of all the rustle and bustle of the city. I would recommend it to anyone looking to enhance
their stay in Shanghai.

Great experience to connect new friends and cooking

I think it's a rare opportunity to learn Chinese food in Shanghai with people from allover the world.Actually , i am a lazy man and don't like cooking by myself in leisure time.It means that i have no experience to deal with some many ingredients. But, luckily ,the special point of KBG is : doesn't like other cooking class,we can work by a team about 3~5 people not just finish dishes by youself .It's really helped me,and all the people in KBG is so kind ,i have given my number to some new people in this class. And then i find everything is just simply and fun .The class has own menu and illustration. So i first time finish dishes by myself . i even be a teacher for some foreign,it;s fun for me to find that they think Chinese culture is some mystical and complex. For example ,when we make the "La Mian " they can't believe that we can create noodles in such a special way.I will say the equipment are also great ,not only the green clear environment and the services .They even provide Chinese White Wine.it's amazing and i let some foreign friends to try some.We all think it's not bad than each kind of wine.I think it's a really good experience .for now, i just hope for another choice to join it.

I spent an excellent day with kitchen by the garden.I can never imagine that I could cook such delicious food because I never cook a meal before.Kitchen by the garden has its own menu,it is easy to finish as well as delicious.During the whole process,Yuanyuan always told us some interesting stories about Chinese diet culture, even as a native, all of them were so special and fun that I never heard before. What's more, the kitchen is well equiped and we had a great time, accompanied with wine and music. This is really perfect and I would like to recommend this place to anyone who is interested in cooking, looking for a different teambuilding activity or just want to learn more about Chinese culture.

It is an amamzing experience to cook Chinese food with colleagues from different parts of the world. We were divided into several groups to finish our dishes. At first, some of our team members really had no idea about dealing with those ingredients, but Lin's professional instruction and team working spirit helped us work them out finally! We also tried cooking dishes creatively and they turned out to be super delicious! Thanks to cultural diversity~~Kitchen by the Garden is not only about cooking but also a perfect opportunity to bring us together and try hard for the same goal. I'm expecting to cook with Lin again once I'm back to Shanghai.
