The market is still there(2019)

Mostly coins today. Many NGS certified items, but I can't evaluate whether it's genuine or not.
If you are into collecting- definitely the best place in the city. Two photos from outside for easier navigation. Few minutes walking from metro station(see map).

Best Coins In Shanghai
May 2018 • Friends
I wanted to have a look at what kind of special t coins I could have got while I was in Shanghai this place is perfect and had everything from silver coins to ancient coins and stamps. The prices were little I and I'm not sure how you can tell if anything was real but it seemed like a good place to get some coins. Most of the purple people speak English that made it quite easy. The address on TripAdvisor isn't actually where it is it took us a little bit to find it but it's on the side of the block from the address. It has for large doors at the front with security sitting around in plastic wind blocking strips over the door where you walk through. I forgot to take any photos but I have to helps this was definitely worth the effort trying to find it.

Collectibles Market
May 2016 • Business
A marketplace specialized for stamps, coins and banknotes. As many of the shops are selling similar things so you can get quite competitive pricings. But do asking around to get a gauge of the pricings

Stamps, Stamps, Stamps
Nov 2015 • Solo
The title of this entry is misleading as at least 50% of the stalls are stamp dealers rather than coins. The building is two storey and contains over 100 small dealers. On any given day only half of the will be occupied. The floors and walls are scruffy and dirty and there is no effort to seem welcoming.

As a philatelist I was disappointed to find that all of the dealers focus only on China. There is no sign of any interest whatever in stamps or coins from other nations. The stock books and albums on sale are Chinese made. Only a couple of stalls had any items which had been imported; limited to a few Leuchtturm/ Lighthouse albums.
The dealers tend to sell unused issues from the last 20 years; and local collectors are fond of buying year sets of issues which are presented in mini albums. There are a few dealers in first day covers too. Some also sell catalogues. But absolutely nothing from outside Greater China.

As a visitor you are free to browse, though everything is behind glass cases. No English is spoken. I would imagine that if you brought in a Chinese collection from overseas you would quickly find a buyer. But there is no effort to make the visitor feel welcomed and no warmth in the building.

The stalls close daily at around 16.30.

Big, interesting, but pretty local
Jan 2015 • Solo
Shanghai LuGong stamp, coin and card collection exchange market has two levels jammed with shops and counters hawking their wares. It's hidden in plain view - the giveaway is the people selling coins & stamps outside the market. Go through an unmarked plastic entryway and you've arrived. Most shops are selling similar items - mainly Chinese money and stamps from various vintages. There's no particular store which would give a foreigner more/less confidence in authenticity or getting a good deal. This is a local place. The main draw is seeing what the locals are interested in, and somewhat of a "museum" view on coins and stamps in recent history. If I was looking for a particular coin / stamp, I would go back, but with someone local to help navigate the various hurdles you might expect.

Gold and Silver Coins
A one floor warehouse type market to buy gold silver or antique coins. The lowest price for gold and silver can be bought from here!! Not a major attraction unless fanatic about precious metal or coins!!
