Top ways to experience nearby attractions

The area
Neighborhood: Gubei / Hongqiao / Minhang
West of Shanghai’s better-known business, cultural and entertainment centers, lies an expansive area of residential neighborhoods peppered with lifestyle pockets that have their own unique attractions. The schools have formed pockets of international communities throughout Gubei, Hongqiao and Minhang. Quite a few entertainment and shopping centers have built up over the years to cater to these communities. While living here means you are relatively far away from Shanghai’s usual hot spots, the large parks, spacious homes and proximity to great Japanese and Korean food keep the neighborhoods popular.

Super high end. Was here cos it was a rainy day. Quiet mall as people came here to just browse around or eat. The restaurants and cafes here serve overpriced food too. Good to visit if you have nothing much to do and need a new mall to window shop! 6 floors. Line 9 to Xujiahui metro station, Exit 17 leads you right to the mall. Metro station is directly opposite the main entrance.

A luxury mall in the Xuhui district. Besides the luxury brands, lots of sports brands and a cineplex. Many restaurants and cafes as well, including the Singapore PS Cafe

Shanghai has so many big posh malls. Not just in the city area where tourists are found but also in the outskirts. This is one of them.

We came here by chance. Most Metro stations here are linked to one or more malls, often big & posh ones. We wanted to try dropping at a new place, to have dinner & also to explore a new area. We chose to stop at Xujiahui station on our way back from Qibao Old Street visit. Usually stations with interchanges have big malls or interesting surroundings.

This mall is unmistakably upmarket, nice ambience & big too, as with many here. One can tell just by looking at the classy ambience & classy tenants to match. There are however some reasonable dining options in the basement. We had good Korean food here. Usually there is a big supermarket in these malls. Here you can find Ole Hall - an upmarket classy & great supermarket.

Frankly, we would not intentionally make our way here just to eat. Definitely not to shop either. There is nothing in this area for tourists except this mall. And after all, one can find such "duplicated" malls everywhere in Shanghai.

The beauty of travelling F&E is that one gets to experience new things/new places. Though not always nice or pleasant.

Renowned Europe and Local branded shops. Hardly see people buying from any of these expensive shops.

Most people venture up 5th and 6th floors for its varieties of local food restuarants.

or B1 for its Supermarket (lotsa free food tasting)

or after dinner walk enjoying the ac in the mall.

or watch movie at SF Cinema.
