Firstly I'm pretty sure the pools I went to were different to this one shown in the pictures. I went to 'Shanghai Swimming Center' (上海游泳馆) which the subway station is named after.
It was good, meaning.. I went from 4pm to 5.30pm and there were roughly 10 people per lane (50m pool). But if you're from New Zealand or Australia you'll have no trouble passing a passing swimmer. 80% of whom were attempting breaststroke. Fortunately for me I only got kicked in the face once.
The cost is ¥40.00 for 90 minutes. Which includes a free cultural experience in the changing room.
I enjoyed a good swim, I hope you will too.

Easily reached from the Yuan Shen stop on the Metro or there is limited car parking available if you choose to drive, we have visited the Yuan Shen Swimming Pool several times and will return.
The place is clean but often crowded and the rules are strictly enforced by a team of whistle blowing life guards.
On your first visit you have to fill out a health declaration that is valid for all similar attractions in Shanghai, you have to declare that you do not have and communicable diseases or heart conditions but nobody checks anything. You also are not allowed to enter the water without wearing a swimming hat ( no idea why), these are for sale in the foyer for around 20RMB.
Sessions are timed by means of a coded arm band, you are allowed 90 mins including changing time, if you exceed this there is a surcharge payable before you can leave the changing area.
Overall not a bad place to cool off on a hot Shanghai day.
