Two buildings nearby. Historic buildings. across a pedestrianized Nanjing street. The Heping Fandian (Peace Hotel) is located on the Bund waterfront in Shanghai. In style, it's a brilliant example of Art Deco. It was built in 1929 by the Italian Victor Sassoon. The 10-story building, with its penthouse and green copper pyramid roof, was the first high-rise in the Eastern Hemisphere at the time. The skyscraper was literally 77 meters back then. The hotel was equipped with the latest technology, and on one floor the suites were decorated in national styles. In 2010 they undertook a major renovation of the Peace Hotel.

Special thanks to HEIDI for his enthusiastic introduction to the museum! Thanks to you, we have more special impressions/insights about Peace Hotel! The incisive process from the beginning of the construction of Chinachem Hotel (now Peace Hotel) by Indian Jews to the prosperity of Shanghai is really exciting! It is highly recommended to visit here. The historical relics are very well maintained.

A lot of things changed during COVID-19 Pandemic, but not the extraordinary service provided by Heping Fandian's team! Heping Hotel has been my favorite hotel in China since 2018. I met Zoey, their talented and excellent front desk operator who helped me a lot during my stay. China is changing rapidly since last I was there. Zoey was kind and informative. She made my visit in China much more easier. The room she gave me have impeccable street view. It always makes me want to extend my stay.

The Peace Hotel is wonderful. We didn't stay there but had lunch which was excellent but not cheap. The rest rooms (for which you need an access pass) are truly wondrous.

The beloved hotel has a deep history. So sad the historical walking visit of photos have been replaced by movie star photos which are less significant than the depth of history it should preserve.
Brought business clients there who had a far lesser joy because movie history is nothing to the deep history it had.
Wanted to have high tea but the price of 345 Yuan per person with nothing more than a disinterested pianist playing is another poor display of exploitation.
The cafe had a far better joy to enjoy with street views and a more reasonable menu.
Oh Fairmont what have you done???!!

Don't eat at victors cafe. It is a lovely place but the food is beyond bad. We complained to the manager and he agreed that the food was terrible.
