Aside from the building, I don't see the value of visiting this museum unless you have extra time to spare. We spent 2 hrs trying to walk through the museum as fast as we could. At the time of the world expo, they had displayed art from around the world. Now, it is mainly modern art from current Chinese artists... More

Seeing the first floor with the historical view of Shanghai, I was a bit disappointed. It was nice, but not as good as I expected. Though, when I came to the second floor, I was blown away. I totally love the current exhibition “Fragrant Lands”. The miniature Shanghai on the third floor was great, too I think. Overall, I had... More

This is a must see along with the Oriental Pearl Tower and the Bund. This was the China Pavilion during the World Expo and remains as the signature Museum of Shanghai. The architecture is something to behold. Many of the other pavilions have been moved to other provinces and the land is being developed. The are permanent exhibits along with... More

This building has become an icon of Shanghai and China after the exposure that it received during and after the World Expo. It provides a nice photo opportunity. However, besides that, I don't see the value of going through the trouble of visiting this place, especially if you have limited time in Shanghai. A few points to consider: 1. KNOW... More

The building is astonishing and when you arrive you're blown away by it's massive size and uniqueness. The museum is located both in a main building high up in the sky but also in an annex just beneath it. When we visited the museum the main building felt a bit unfinished, large sections were under construction/renovation and there was not... More

We spent around 1-2 hours in this museum. The building, set up for the World Expo in 2010 is an eye-catcher - outside and inside. The expedition is nice and gives a good overview about Chinese Art. Some of the items have a good english explaination.

I bought tickets to watch a show at the Mercedes-Benz Arena so I decided to check out the China Art Museum which was just a couple minutes walk away from the Arena. Admission was free. Although the line was really long, it moved very quickly and I was in the museum within 5 minutes time. The museum offered a variety... More

I have been to the China Art Pavillion several times now, and I would go again and again and again. The building itself is quite spectacular it's the big red Pavillion shaped building you can see as you cross the river over the Nangpu bridge or the Lupu bridge. It was the Chinese exhibit for the world expo in Shanghai... More

Went with some colleagues from work. We spent a few hours in the museum most of the exhibits have english translations. I recommend you pay the 20yuan and go see the digital reproduction of the Along the River During the Qingming Festival.

We visited the venue with some Shanghainese friends, am I am glad we did. The building is amazing and it shows a great use of a building designed for an Expo exhibit that was turned into something useful. The collection is interesting and there are several temporary exhibitions available, but still it is the building that gets your outmost attention,... More
