One of the highlights in Shanghai is to visit this memorable acrobatic performance by their locals. It is rather expensive, undeniably, but completely worthy as it can be an eye-opener for those who haven’t watched it before. My first encounter with acrobatic performances was through television, but watching it live feels real and magnified, and as a form of cultural exposure to Chinese arts.
We purchased the ticket online and collected the hard-copy ticket on-site by exchanging details of our purchase. It took us at least half an hour to find the exact location of this show through asking around, after alighting at Shanghai Circus World train station. Luckily, we were on time to watch the performance and the show did not start promptly too. The number of audiences was like less than half of its full capacity, and mainly tourists. We were allowed to eat while watching this performance. Mum bought a pop corn at RMB 40.
After the performance, we decided to purchase their DVD at RMB 150 as souvenir. I was the only customer buying this DVD. The other tourists were rushing back to their tour bus.

Located in the Shanghai Center Theater on West Nanjing Road. Managed to get the cheapest seats in the morning for 180cny. Balcony seats which were sufficient. Amazing performance by all the troupe which kept us throughly entertained for 90 minutes. On par with Era Circus World show.

Din Tai Fung Dinner Experience plus VIP Seated Acrobatics Show in Shanghai
While in Shanghai we were keen to see an acrobatics show – something Shanghai is renowned for. We’d been on a previous tour with Alana and she suggested combining the acrobatics show with a trip to Din Tai Fung, a well-known dumpling restaurant. We were not disappointed – great seats at the show which included a wide variety of skills and amazing acts. Din Tai Fung gave us the opportunity to try out Shanghai’s delicious xiao long bao (soup dumplings and pork buns). Another great night out with both destinations worthwhile.

I went as part of a group so I could not really leave until the end of the performance. I felt it was like a bad variety show, it starts with some basic acrobatics then you get a serious of acts such as a woman with a large hula hoop, someone spinning plates and some comedy. It finally finishes with some more acrobatics.
I really wanted to like this and I had high expectations from the reviews but unfortunately I found it very amateurish.

Went to this Huxi Theater performance through Gate 1 Travel, as 2 persons cancelled out and gave us their seats. After watching almost a full season of Americas Got Talent, this was a complete waste....Old Theater, tired performances..they were talented and tried their best, the over 70+ crowd seemed to be enjoying themselves...maybe they've never seen modern acrobatic theater before..hmmm!
The motorcycle scene at the end was impressive, but when it ended the theater was filled with carbon monoxide fumes, and everyone rushed for the exits!!
Enjoy something else in Shanghai...it's an Amazing City 😉

We were pleased to attend the Shanghai Acrobatic Troupe Performance with the Uniworld Tour Company who escorted us throughout China/Vietnam and Cambodia. Top notch outfit to travel with for a rewarding, deluxe experience. Having travelled so much around the world, participating in so many of these local entertainment offerings, we almost passed up on this one in order to have a respite from our busy schedule. I am glad we did not. Uniworld made sure our dining experience and view of the performance was right up front near the stage. The production was entertaining, colourful, and amazing at times. The highlight, of course, was the age old transformation of the face masks by an individual performer. Who know how he does it? Never seen this trick before so it was something new to add to our trip experiences.

This was an evening show. Celine our Guide came with us and the same great driver took us there and back to our hotel. I found having Jenny's Tours looking after us in Shanghai was a real bonus. The show itself was pretty amazing, although I though maybe it went on a little long!! The acrobats, jugglers and the cook and waiter were delightful and breath taking at times!!

The moments of surprise and amazement are many. A combination of fearlessness, talent, athleticism, acting, and humor makes it work. They push the limit. It's not like we haven't seen much of this at the circus or county fair. It is the highest caliber of performance that makes the difference. You need to see it. Avoid the seats on the extreme side if you can, though there really isn't a bad seat.

I didn't realize until after the performance that it is all students of the acrobatic school. This explained why there were slip ups and dropped props. I enjoyed the show as a whole and overall I thought it was well worth the time and money and even more so after I learned about them being students. Definitely suggested as a "not to miss".
