Moganshan and the Art of Shanghai

I'd call this a must see of Shanghai if you like art. As far as I know, it's the only place where they allow graffiti and this is where you'll find the art galleries. I was very... read more

I'd call this a must see of Shanghai if you like art. As far as I know, it's the only place where they allow graffiti and this is where you'll find the art galleries. I was very tempted to buy paintings more than a few times while I was there. There's a cafe nearby that had bacon pizza, grab a... More

Shanghai is seriously lacking in the graff department. For a city that big, I wish there were more. On the way to M50 creative park, there's aboiy a block lined with stuff. I was sorely missing street art having been in China for a year, so it's refreshing, especially because you're not seeing to many giant commissioned murals like you... More

I love this area of Shanghai!! The whole scene and vibe is lively and artistic. All of Moganshan Road contains local artists work. You can go into certain buildings and go upstairs to places to see more of the artwork. It's beautiful and fun. Definitely worth a trip and bring your camera too!

If you have extra time, go for a visit. Take a taxi because the metro will require a long walk. There are about 25 shops clustered together with some cafes in between. I wouldn't say it is totally impressive.

You should start walking through this road which leads to M50 art space. Students from art schools doing up their graffiti, it's amazing how vibrant this city is. However the big construction trucks along the road maybe a hinder and it can get dusty all the way.

Very trendy and clean new development. This used to be a dirty little street now became a very trendy place. Very nice to take a lazy walk around and see all the art studios.

As Expats we were looking for something to do on a Sunday afternoon. Enjoyed wandering around the area. The graffiti was our favorite part of the day. We started at Shanghai Railway station exit 5 and walked down Tianmu W Rd. Just over the bridge at the Wusong River we followed the river back to Moganshan Rd. Many studios to... More

There must be well over 100 galleries/studios in this area so it is not surprising much/ most of the art you will not like. But with so much variety you are bound to find things you do like.we really enjoyed wondering around. Generally speaking the better & more expensive art is closer to the main Rd but don't miss the...
