Rather belatedly I am doing a review. I did a half day photography walking tour in August. It was a great experience. I learned so much about Shanghai in a different and unique way.

I got some amazing photographic memories and saw aspects of life in Shanghai I wouldn’t have seen without the tour.

Hugely recommended. One of the best ways to understand what Shanghai is all about and to see many different aspects of life across the City. My guide was Lily and she was amazing. Interesting, insightful and caring. I thoroughly enjoyed spending the morning with her.

I took the Noodle photo tour with Dennis last week, in the Hongkou area. It's a great way to see another side of the city. As I was told when I made the reservation, Dennis is not a professional photographer, but he is a very experienced guide. I learned a lot about Shanghai, with many photo ops: parks, street life, architecture, back alleys etc.
Fun and insightful.

The response / confirmation of a private photography tour was amazingly fast and efficient. Within hours of arriving in Shanghai and making the first contact, I was on a private walking tour with a photographer who knew the city and spoke the language, facilitating communication with locals and weaving in and out of back streets. There's no other way to efficiently get a feel for a place in such a short time. Thank you, Shelley, for organizing this tour, and thank you, Emmy, for your guiding!

I had a 1:1 tour with Emmy of the FFC in Shanghai. The staff of Noodle Walking Tours were very proactive in ensuring I connected with Emmy a week before the scheduled walking tour, and everything went smoothly from a logistics perspective. Emmy chose and easy place to meet up based on knowing I was coming by metro (and accommodated when I decided to arrive by walking). We were in plenty of communication via WeChat a few days before the tour to share some of my interests and get to know each other a little. Emmy did a lovely job showing me around the FFC -- she shared interesting history as well as loads of fascinating insights about daily life in China. She has a photographer's eye and was helpful pointing out things I would have missed! It was lovely to experience her engaging with the locals - a thoughtful, kind, engaged approach to each person we encountered, including a 3 year old learning to "drive" his new toy car around an alley. Emmy shared important historical and architectural sights as well as lilongs, parks and a couple of shops I'd asked about. She also was incredibly in following up - sharing some of the photos she snapped, as well as recommended books and movies. Lovely way to spend several hours on a Saturday morning and I can't recommend Emmy and Noodle highly enough!

Lily was my private tour guide for the 3 hour tour of the Former French Concession in Shanghai. She had extensive knowledge about the history of the area, and really focused on the rise of the FFC. I learned about architecture, food, history, culture, among many other things. For any history buff, or for anyone interested in learning more about Shanghai, this is the tour for you.

The tour was just OK I think. It also ended earlier than I expected and my subsequent request for a part-refund was initially accepted, then multiple follow-up emails trying to arrange the refund were ignored, which made me feel like I had been ripped off. With hindsight we should probably have arranged to just spend more time near or on The Bund, which is breath-taking at both day and night.

I had a guided 3-hour tour with Dennis in Hongkou area; a dip in local Shanghai Life, singing crowd in the beautiful Luxun park, wandering through back lanes and residential areas, interesting stories and a lot of knowledge about the city, ending at the slaughterhouse I got a different view and vision on life in this huge city.
A walk with Noodle Walking Tours is definitely recommended, for visitors but also for those who live there.

I had family come to visit me and booked a 3 hour tour of the old town with Wing as our guide. The 5 of us all thought it was fantastic. Wing took time to answer all of our questions and I loved the little things she told us about shanghai that you would never find in guide books. Sayings the locals use, tips about how they live, costs of various activities, jobs, rent etc. Wing took us to a restaurant to have lunch and then continued the tour tailoring it to our requests. At the end of the tour she even walked us to the metro station even though we had gone over our three hours. I recommend this walking tour to all visitors in shanghai. Have fun!!

We had a guided 3-hour tour with Lilly today for the four (adult) members of our family in the old town region of Shanghai. This was our first visit to Shanghai. Our guide Lilly was very engaging, knowledgeable, articulate and is obviously very well acquainted with Shanghai. She was able to convey an immense amount of information and detail about all aspects of the city and that area in particular but she was also fun, amusing and a pleasure to spend 3 hours with.

A friend of ours recommended Noodle Tours and Dana in particular. We were not disappointed! We'd expressed an interest in street food and met up with Dana late afternoon for a visit to Qiboa - the closest of the ancient waterfront towns which although on the metro system still gives a different view of the Shanghai area. The old town has waling streets of just amazing food - things seen before and never seen before. Dana is clearly a foodie herself and showed us around, trying things as we went- popping into small stalls to sample beef soup. lamb with dipping sauce, gizzard on a stick, spicy sausage and squid.
Some people have complained the Qiboa is too busy but we arrived at about 4.30 and it was fine- also nice to wander around in the growing dark.
Dana is very helpful, knowledgable and of course fluent in English - without her we would not have been able to explore this place and enjoy it so much.
Btw no stomach problems afterwards- everything hot and freshly cooked.
