We signed up for the full day tour to Suzhou and had a wonderful experience. We met George, our lovely guide, at Hongqiao station and took the bullet train to Suzhou. A local driver met us there and we then visited Tiger Hill, the beautiful Suzhou Museum and the Humble Administrators Garden, besides having a delicious lunch in a traditional restaurant and a stroll around the old town area. George gave us many insights and was able to answer our myriad questions. Our kids (6 and 9) also enjoyed the tour a lot. It was a great day out and when back in Shanghai we'd definitely book another tour from Newman Tours!

We booked a private tour of the Bund for a school trip in Shanghai and are so glad we used Newman tours. George our tour guide was incredibly knowledgable and entertaining and was able to tailor the tour expertly to the children (who were teenagers and not always easily engaged). The students were interested and asked many questions which George was able to answer well. Newman tours also sent extra guides as we had a large group, which was a nice touch. This really was a fantastic tour and I will definitely use Newman tours in the future, even if I am not taking a school group.

We were in shanghai for a layover and came across Newman’s Tours. Clyde was a brilliant, engaging and well informed guide who brought to life the history of the Jewish people during the war in Shanghai. He was able to keep the interest of my teenage kids. Strongly recommend!

Newman Tours has been our go-to for well-researched and interactive tours in Shanghai, since we started with their French Concession & Bund tours back in 2018. In 2019 we signed up for the Jewish ghetto tour, History of China in 50 objects tour (Shanghai Museum), and Suzhou day tour which were just as impressive!

It's clear that George and the staff put significant effort into making the tours as efficient, historically accurate, and, most importantly, fun, as possible.

I strongly recommend them to any visitor or even Shanghai resident.

We met George last November for a day tour. He was thoroughly knowledgeable about Chinese culture and equally interesting to listen to. Their company is very professional. We look to forward to meeting them again on a future
trip.

Our guide Luke took us on a very informative and fun historical walk of the French concession. The history was rich and complete with an iPad to fill in visual information not available at the site. The hotels visited were wonderful examples of what grandeur and money flowed through the city at that time, as well as some tragic stories involving the properties tied into the volatile government changes. Also, the knowledge of the architecture and design was incredibly educational for someone like me who had no background of the of the period. And our guide gave treats or "sweeties" if you could guess answers on the history along the way, so don't be shy to speak up!

I arranged for my friends and I to go on the Bund and French Concession Tour in Shanghai and was extremely happy I did. It was one of the best things we did! The tour is interesting, educational, funny and enlightening. It’s not too long and the guides are really friendly and very knowledgeable. Both guides came with ipad computers to show us pictures and maps of the people and places they mentioned. They also take you into some of the buildings they talk about and show places you’d never see otherwise. If you want to go on a tour or even debating doing it, I would highly recommend them.

I signed up my mother and myself for this private 4 hourJewish history tour, and I'm truly glad that I did. Our guides David and George were incredible - they were enthusiastic and bursting with knowledge. You will learn so many interesting and fascinating facts on this tour, and you will get to see a lot. David and George traveled along with a private driver who picked us up from our hotel at the beginning of the tour, dropped us off at and picked us up from the various stops during the course of the tour, and dropped us back off at our hotel at the end of the tour. The 4 hours flew by and were immensely enjoyable and educational, and considering that this was a quality 4 hour private tour with private transportation, the price was very affordable. If you have an interest in history and/or are looking to have a fun and intriguing experience, I recommend this tour.

Luke led me and two new expat friends on a private Gangster Tour through part of the old French Concession. From the beginning to the end he enthralled us with stories of times gone by that will stay with us as we roam the area over the next years here in Shanghai.

As a westerner living in China, it is important that as you walk the streets of Shanghai you know some of the stories of times gone by. The good, the bad, the ugly. It transforms Shanghai and your feeling towards the city completely.

I highly recommend this experience for visitors, and even more so for people making their home in the city.

Thanks to Newman Tours and Luke for making our experience unforgettable.

Well what can I say? David just absolutely knows his stuff. He very impressively showed deep knowledge about the history of Shanghai and China overall while showing us all the best places in town. Thanks David, much appreciated. Will be back for sure! Higly recommended!
