Yangshan Deep-Water Port was a great escape from the hustle bustle crowded Shanghai. It was a welcome break for us from the crowd, noise, pollution, traffic we encountered during the 12days Beijing, Xian, Hangzhou, Shanghai. The drive crossed one of the world’s largest bridges Donghai Bridge and huge wind farm can be seen out in the sea along the way. Approaching the islands, tall cranes can be seen offloading and unloading mega container ships. From the visitor centre, we enjoyed a nice hike on a misty morning. There were very few shade cover. The path was well-paved path made mostly of stairs leading up along the huge rocky formations to the main observation deck overlooking the harbor port. A leisure hike took about an hour round-trip. There is a restroom at top but advise to use it at the visitor centre before the hike and bring drinking water especially on a hot day. Not wheelchair friendly. Due to the distance, only recommended if one has a spare day. There are smaller restaurants but suggest to have a meal somewhere else.

There's not much to it. It's a port, that's it. Yes, it may be the busiest in the world, but no layman will be able to recognize that from visiting and looking out over it from a viewpoint. I went with a tour group. I would not have visited if I had the choice.
