Fascinating insight to an important figure

This house museum gives you you a very detailed and interesting background to one of the founders of the modern Communist Party - Zhou Enlai. It was a very spartan life they led, and the house has been maintained much as it was in his time here. Lovely garden to enjoy, and it is free entry.

Historical, with the grounds being the best part

While head of the Shanghai Communist Party Zhou Enlai briefly lived in this villa. The brevity of his occupancy is reflected in the relative sparseness of the displays.

Most of the rooms have a few pieces of furniture and a legend of description. It was interesting to see that one of his endeavours was evading agents of the governing Nationalist Party who kept him under surveillance form across the road.

The garden is lovely and we enjoyed strolling around it. On the way we had a look at the Buick that was used at the time.

Good for a free attraction

This place is free which is good. It is Zhou en-lai's house and they have really preserved it as it is - which means Spartan!! They have. Little game but that is all about how simple the place is located. There is a prize for the winner though so it keeps the children entertained. Luckily next to it there is a museum for The shanghai Communist party - it was superficial but at the same time it was great because through pictures, it attempted to show a little bit of the work of Zhou en-Lai at that time.

Historically interesting

There's a plaque downstairs that mentions how the guards kept an eye on the Kuomintang watch house across the street.

History maker - Zhou Enlai

I am always curious about the early history between democracy and communism in China, and this attraction offers a lot for me. The house is made by woods, you could hear "Crack, crack" with every step, and I like the sound.
