A nice area to go out in the evening for a drink and dinner.
See the other reviews for Tianzifang, as it is the same general area.
Lots of little shops and restaurants tucked in the alleys.
Quite easy to get too from the downtown, it's on Metro line #9. Station Dapuqiao. Take exit number 1 to get to Taikang Road and Tianzifang.

I’m a regular to shanghai but have never been here and read about it in TripAdvisor. Yes quaint but a serious tourist area. Worth a look but that’s it. I saw that they did tours here for quite a lots of $. Don’t. Get a taxi and have a stroll. To pay for this would be mad

A tourist spot but offering more variety and quality than the trinkets at Yu Gardens.

Worth a wander around, a haggle and a stop for a feed or a drink.

Short walk from the metro stop.

Easy to get here "TianZiFang", we took metro Line 9 and alight at DaPuQiao Station. Look for exit 1, the moment you get out of metro exit there you are!

From modern to traditional alley, get to check out alot of local street foods and designer products. This would be a great place if you wish to pick up some sovereigns for your friends and family.

If you are just there to check out probably 1-2 hours you could complete most of interesting parts in this district. However if you wish to hang out longer and probably pick up a beer by the bar, will need to factor in more time.

This is a warren of old stone lane houses, converted into shops, bars, restaurants. If you want to see some local art and handicrafts, this is a good bet. There are now unfortunately a lot of tacky souvenir shops there, but just ignore those. Many of the houses are still occupied by original residents, so there is a noise ban after 10pm. Best to go on a weekday if possible. Grab a drink at the outside tiki bar and enjoy the people watching. Easily accessible by metro line 9, Dapuqiao station, exit 1.

A great set of small walking streets off Taikang Road. There's plenty of street food, shopping for souvenirs, trinkets, clothing, jewelry and other things. And there are lots of good bars and restaurants.

It's mostly frequented by locals and Asian tourists, but it's very friendly to other tourists.

Easy to get here via subway. It's in the French Concession.

The French concession area of Shanghai is a quirky collection of shops and bars in some very narrow streets. It had a vibe similar to London’s Camden in that everyone was welcome, no matter how different you maybe. Well worth a look to check out!
