    Fun with many options
A pretty fun experience, for both little kids and adults. The park has more attractions than Disneyland Shanghai. They have 2 big roller coasters, as well as many other attractions. They have attractions suited for kids, so it’s a great place for family trips. The food prices aren’t bad, and there are many places to get snacks and drinks, like ice cream, cotton candy and tanghulu. The lines are pretty long during the weekends, so you can expect to be anywhere from half an hour to an hour in more popular rides, which is the only bad thing.

    Much better than expected
We visited already happy valley in Beijing and Shenzhen, but when entering the one here in SH our first impression was „old and crowded“. Luckily it turned out not to be true. Old it is indeed in some areas, but waiting time at the attractions was never longer than 15min and the amount of attractions is really high. We had a very great afternoon here and will definitely come back.

DON'T go if there is the slightest chance of rain!! All Closed.
DON'T go here if it's even damp! The day had light rain pretty much all day. When we arrived we did the wooden roller-coaster. It was really fantastic. After that (about 30 minutes after the park opened) none of the real rides were open. They all said either Closed for Maintenance or Closed due to Weather. Literally every ride that was in the open was closed. It world be a really great theme park if the rides were working. Disappointed. I gave three stars and not one or two for its potential, but our experience was a 1. :(

If you reside in China and need an amusement park fix, Happy Valley will do. But don't bring the kids. We went with our two boys and it was a horrible experience. The children's area is limited to "Ant World" and is 10 carnival rides inside a dark and dingy warehouse area. None of them were appropriate for a child under 3 and for the 3-5 set only a few that lasted 1-2 minutes. I would only recommend it to teens and adults. Even in that case only if you live here, if you're visiting it is definitely not worth it since it's no better (and in some ways worse) than the amusement parks back home. Some of the bathrooms are dirty, there are few signs in English and the restaurants are either KFC, Pizza Hut or Chinese shops with no English menus. Add onto the preposterously long wait times and that many people here don't really wait in line very well (lots of cutting and pushy behavior). The rides themselves are standard if not spectacular (advanced and exciting for China, but run-of the mill rides found at any Six Flags park). Worth a day trip for the bored and homesick adult or teen expat, stay away for anyone else...

Cheap price for tickets, great rides and so many fun roller coasters. Kids loved it, they said it's better than Singapore's Universal Studios!

After living in SH for 3 years and wanting to visit the local theme park, I finally made it. So having worked in the THeme Park industry at one of the World's Best and Friendliest and with one of the best new rides in 2013... I have some high park standards.

The ride from my Nanpu Bridge area home to the park took a little over an hour by metro. Line 4 to line 9. Once at Sheshan metro stop there is a bus that will shuttle you to the park or you can rent a bicycle and ride it over to the park. I didn't see where the bicycle parking was at the park or how they were locked up.

Happy Valley did not meet many of the standards I have come to recognize in a high quality theme park.
Ride lines were not run efficiently, Line queues were not equipt with enough cooling or shading devices in many areas of the park while others were drowning in the mist machines, the layout of the park is not clear and very difficult to find your way around from attraction to attraction. The park is in clear need of some major maintenence, chipping paint, cracked walls and damages were clearly visible.
The park employees were friendly, but I didn't encounter any who spoke english and my friend had to translate for them when they needed to talk to me.
One upside to the theme park was the price of their souviners and food. All very -- incredibly reasonable. I am used to being charged outrageous fees for these things but surprised to buy a 20oz bottle of coke for 6rmb. which is more expensive than in the store but still less than the cost of a bottle in the USA so i feel it was well worth the cost.
The rides were fun, but the rollercoasters were lacking in any real big excitement. I've been on over 40 coasters world wide and I can't say those at HV were in my top 10,20 or 30. I did not get a chance to ride China's First Wooden coaster the line was over 3 hour wait and I wasn't going to waste the day standing in line for that, opting to wait until fall when i've been told the lines will die down and be much more managable for the wooden coaster.
The most shocking part of the day was in the water area of the park where there were fountains shooting water out of the ground for children to run through and play. The park where i work in the US has this, but what we don't have are nude children .. ranging from toddler to teen running through the fountanins with no one to stop them. Even the Chinese pointing and seeming to be shocked at the up to 10 naked kids running around the others who remained clothed.. some even wearing rain ponchos over their swimsuits.. I don't get the thinking behind this.

As mentioned earlier.. the lines moved very slowly.. they are not run as efficiently as they could be. Lining up guests when the train is away and being ready to load as soon as the train returns.. Rather they wait until the train is back to let in a new group and then talk and then let them in .. wasting time and making me want to go up and show them how its really done in order to increase the ride occupancy. Also, though the lines were crazy long and there were more trains, only 1 was in operation when they could have made things run faster and made people enjoy the day more. Happy Valley needs an outside trainer to come in and show them how to speed things up. (i will do it -- call me!)

So while its not a park up to the standards I am accustomed, it was an overal enjoyable time and worth a second visit.

We had to decide between Happy valley or Disney. My kids..16, 14 and 20 something chose Happy Valley. The rides looked better, the price was definitely better and it was something new for us.
We went on a Friday, took the metro, easy. Shuttle bus over the road that transport directly to the amusement park for free. TAKE NOTE of where it drops you off...see end of my review. The park wasn't busy..but we made the mistake of waiting in a line for one of the big rides...took ages...GREAT RIDE. However we noted at about 230pm ish all the schoolkids trips had left..and the queues for the big rides were so much shorter...so if we went again we would wait until later for the star attractions. The water ride was fab..we got totally soaked..u can buy rainwear for a few yuan..and if you go on a cold day I would recommend this. It was sunny on our day so we dried quickly. Plenty to fill the day with, food outlets as others have said were western (KFC/Pizza) and Chinese. There was a good selection of scary rides, less scary rides and tame rides, a live show (we didnt attend this), a 4D theatre.. and little kid stuff. Lots of walking, u can hire little cars..but we didnt.
BEWARE: on leaving the park some locals told us the buses had finished and negotiated a price for their taxi to get back to the metro. these are NOT taxis, just private cars..and the buses continue until late.
Definitely recommend, much safer than theme parks we have been to in other areas in Asia, not as flash as UK or USA parks..but great fun all the same.

Happy Valley was amazing! I love all the roller coaster they are all so thrilling! The one i loved the most is the 90 degrees roller coaster that stops for 5 seconds until the vehicle glides down! There are not a lot of people during the weekdays but during the weekends there are lot of people and u have to get in line for quiet a long time for on attraction.
I liked it so much that i bought an annual pass that i can go unlimited times for a year it was just awesome! I recommend you taking your children's when u have time!

Don't waste your time. Go to Disneyland instead. The best attraction here is the dive coaster (one of my favorite coasters in the world), but the park suffers from overall awful service, quality, experience, and cleanliness.

When you come to Shanghai, this area is one of the nice and fun places that you should visit. The nature is beautiful and there are many interesting facilities there.

The interesting thing is that the entrance fee is 200 Yuan for adults and 120 Yuan for the kids under 120 cm and you can enjoy the facilities without paying any more fees. You can go there by Line 9. The station is Shenshai and then you can take a taxi or bus to go there.

Unfortunately, some of the facilities are out of service and they are renovating some of the other facilities. The facilities are becoming outdated and they should renovate them. If you go there in hot weather, I recommend you to go to Fantasy Ocean area which is in closed space and enjoy the other facilities in open space in the evening or early morning.
Please consider the working hours of the park. It has been mentioned 18:00, but most of the playing facilities will be closed at 16:30 or 17:00. So, you should have a good plan for enjoying your stay at this park.
Your will certainly enjoy it.
