The area
Address
Neighborhood: Century Park
Shanghai residents see Pudong’s suburbs as the place that grown-ups retreat to when they’re ready to settle down and stop living in the cramped confines of a refurbished lanehouse. The areas around Century Park are some of the most desirable as they are in close proximity to the Metro Lines, granting easy access to the heart of Puxi. The park itself is a huge draw, it’s one of Shanghai’s biggest and there are sports fields tucked into one of its corners, but five-star hotels, museums and great malls make life in the Century Park area easy for the homesick foreigner. And if living in a Western bubble in China isn’t your thing, there is plenty of local flavor to be had in between the major development. Some of Lujiazui’s futurism can also be seen in buildings and sculptures throughout the neighborhood as well.

Pudong and the Park
Sep 2018
Very nice park, easy access by metro. Was in business trip and the square was not far from my hotel. Clean place to walk, on weekend ppl get together to dance and meet, as well nice scenery too. If it happens to be in Sh, will be nice to drop by at night and see the city lights. Many hotels, restaurants around too.

Huge Square
Mar 2018 • Solo
This place was about a 20 minute walk from the Renaissance Hotel. There is also a metro station right in the middle of the square making this an easy place to visit.

The square is popular with skateboarders. They had setups that were being used to do various tricks. A few people were just watching or recording videos of the skaters.

The square is also quite expansive and surrounded by lots of buildings and the science and technology museum. Considering how land is so expensive here in Shanghai one would not expect to see something of this size.

After visiting, I headed over to Century Park following a long path and bridge that directly connected both. There was no need to cross the busy streets in between.

I spent less than half hour here.

A good route to Century Park
Oct 2016 • Solo
You can walk through Century Square on your way to Century Park, rather than making it a destination in itself. It's popular wth skateboarders so watch your back. Keep an eye out for hustlers trying to get you to visit their market stalls.

Away from City
Apr 2015 • Friends
This side of Shanghai is so neat and more relaxing to walk around and discover. When you come out from the Metro Station of the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum, on the next door you will find tons of shops that you can buy from clothing, luggage, shoes, bags, etc. It is the same as "Xiu Shui market" in Beijing where you will need to bargain hard because everything there also a fake materials. If you coming from the top of the square, just walk down a bit and you can see the metro station and the market is just underneath, It is nice to find some gifts as well.

Saturday tips
Sep 2011 • Business
On Saturday morning you can see a lot of couples dancing in the park. It is really charming! Others are practising in chess or just relaxing on benches.
And as weel you can find a big board with a lot of advertisements, marked either Woman (majority) or Man, which is either a "date me" or just "lets have friends".
