Don't go here. I took a course here about a year ago, which was chaotic at best. Then sent my employee here and their sales manager completely ripped us off. They put our employee in their only available class which was absolutely not his level, but they just wanted to make the sale. Their only solution is cutting the learning time in half with a private teacher, but since learning Chinese is about putting in the time to practice, this is not a viable solution. Issuing a refund takes a whopping 3 months if you can get one at all. Go to any other school but this one.

I had a couple of free weeks this summer and decided to spend them improving my mandarin. I spent 2 weeks at the HuTong School in ShangHai, and I honestly had an amazing experience. I did an intensive course of 4 hours of group class in the morning followed by 2 hours of private tuition in the afternoon. However, despite being there for such a short period, my Chinese improved to such a degree that I will soon be returning to continue my mandarin education. The staff and other students at HuTong were always very friendly and eager to learn. Everyone just wants to improve your mandarin and as such, is incredibly supportive of any effort to do so. Special shutout to my private tutor Emily who was really patient with me and helped me improve faster than I thought was humanly possible for me to do so!

I visited Shanghai for 3 weeks for a business trip and enrolled Hutong school to do 20 hours of one on one classes. I was very impressed by the school! They were very flexible to fit my classes around my busy work schedule. The school ran many free cultural experiences on the weekends and at night. This included going to local restaurant, historic sights, learning to make dumplings, and playing mahjong. I really enjoyed these experiences which really made my time in SH. My teacher Cici was terrific and was very patient, as I was an absolute beginner. The textbook they provided was great. Learning some language really transformed my short trip to China! I'm inspired to continue learning Chinese!

I’ve joined the Hutong School in Beijing and Shanghai two times already – and every time it was a great and wonderful experience. The accommodation is quite okay. The people at the Hutong-School are very nice and helpful in every way. The teachers are very motivated and well prepared. And the School offers a lot of funny free-time activities. The “Hutong-School-weeks” were one of my best in my live – and I can recommend it in every way. You not only learn a lot – you also meet a lot of new friends.

At Hutong School, you are welcomed by a team of young and experienced people who know how to make you feel at home. They provided excellent care: housing arrangements was taken care of and they made me feel at ease as soon as I arrived. I took Mandarin classes at Hutong School for 5 months, and it was one of the best language experience I ever had! Hutong School's teachers are very professional, relaxed and I felt that the teachers know how to tailor their classes to their student's needs and their study personality. Aside from this, the school's location is also very attractive. It is located in the French concession, nearby fancy shops, and foreign and local restaurants, giving you a true Shanghai feel! Thanks to Hutong School, I was able to have an unforgettable experience in Shanghai.
