The area
Address
Neighborhood: People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.
How to get there
  • People's Square • 4 min walk
  • Xinzha Road • 9 min walk

Eerily life like
Jul 2019
Located in a large building on the edge of Nanjing road in Shanghai, once you enter Madame Tussauds you'll see celebrities past and present, dead or alive and since this one is in China you'll see celerities from China as well as America and Britain. You'll see superheroes from the Avengers, as well as Marilyn Monroe, Bruce Lee, Barrack Obama, Tom Cruise, Arnold Schwazanegar and many faces you'l recognise and a few you won't. It will take some time to explore the full thing so feel free to take your time, when I visited there was barely anyone there so I could take my time exploring and taking photos with the statues. The waxworks are incredibly life like, just like they are in London, from their skin, to their eyes, their hair and even height (I learned that Tom Cruise is smaller than me). At the end of the trip you'll find a gift shop and inside you can find many tiny Oscar awards so if you want to act like a famous actor feel free to buy one, who knows you might find yourself as a waxwork inside Madame Tussauds someday.

Only If You Have Never Visited Other Madame Tussauds

It was a hot Friday afternoon so I decided to drop by with my family. The ground floor where we bought our tickets were packed. Had a rather enjoyable time especially my kids.

Good way to spend a few hours
Dec 2018 • Family
If you have some spare time and if it's a rainy and cold day, this would be a good place to spend a few hours. A bit pricey and the staff that served us at the counter spoke very little English. We found it difficult to understand her explanation on the family package.

This was not a huge display but there were enough interactive exhibits that we spent about 3 hours going around the place. The waxworks were a mix of international and local figurines.

Very cool

This museum is very impressive. Very similar to others around the world but it does seem as though this one is more engaging and interactive. Around 180RMB for an adult.

Well, I must say that this is an engaging experience but yes it is almost same as other Madame Tussauds. Nothing much different. But yes if you are here, do visit once. Its good.

I was there very early and not much people, I can take photos with each and every figure without worrying a line from behind. The Marvel heros section was great.

A nice place to visit with kids

The visit to the Madame Tussauds Shanghai was nice, since the outdoor was rather hot so we decided to explore. We've been to a few overseas so knew what to expect and its actually quite nice. You can easily spend a couple of hours here, getting selfies taken with some rather real-life statues.

Descent place to spend 1-2hours on a hot Shanghai day but expensive from value perspective
Jun 2018 • Couples
It was a hot and humid day in Shanghai so we were looking for some indoors relief. Decided to go to Madame Tussauds. The plus is the a/c worked well. It was moderately crowded. There was some loosely organized queuing with people cutting and what not. The characters were alright.

Bottom line: If the weather is crappy and you have some cash to spend... this is a place to go.

Just ok
May 2018
I have been to many Madame Tussaud museums like london, Amsterdam, Hong Kong , Berlin etc but this one is very poor comparing to others . It mainly caters to Chinese figures very few international figures are there . If it's a must for you to go then yes but if it's optional spend your time somewhere else.
