We booked a 6hr semi private trip with my wife and son and kept over 20 fish and had to throw back that many or more because it isn’t snapper or trigger season. 2nd year in a row I’ve used Hudson marina and very satisfied. The deckhands Doug and Dennis were top notch and would recommend these guys anytime

We went on the semi private fishing charter that held up to 22 I think. We caught a ton of fish, the guy helping on the deck was nice and helpful. Def the best “party boat” fishing experience I’ve been on. Would def recommend, 6 hours or longer since most party boats take an hour and a half give to take to get out to the fishing area.

I have been using this marina for about 10 years. I found them first for the pirate cruise when my kids were little. While we haven't done this trip in a few years, my kids absolutely loved it when they were little. Now that they are teenagers we go on fishing excursions which they love. The crews are always helpful. This last trip, we rented a 20' pontoon boat for 8 hours. It was a fabulous day and so nice to go where we wanted to go. The boat wasn't new but in good shape. We have gone on multiple trips with Hudson, and we highly recommend using them!!!

Not worth the $30 a person The people working on the boat seemed like burnout meth users. We only saw dolphins for 5 minutes of the 90 minute trip. Two of the three workers kept shilling for the local restaurant and repeated the same story about some guy’s 10 million dollar yacht, which we did not see. Bizarro. No one wore a mask. One worker never spoke. They all could have used a shower, a shave, and a clothes washer.

This trip was to be the highlight of our vacation. I carefully chose which fishing charter to take. We selected their more expensive “semi charter” 6 hour trip because it seemed more likely to catch fish. Second day of snapper season and great weather. Should’ve been a no brained, right?
I should’ve realized on the way out that it wasn’t going to go well. The first mate told me he’d only been doing it for 6 months. He let me know that the marina had run out of cut squid because “no one had picked any up” at their supplier. All they brought for 18 fishermen was one box of frozen pogies. We caught a few snapper at the first spot and it went downhill from there. We stopped at 6 spots over 3 hours of fishing and only managed 11 keepers on the entire boat. How does this happen on the second day of the season when nobody has fished these reefs?
The telltale was that one person caught a small squirrel fish and cut it up for bait. He quickly caught two vermilion snapper and a trigger fish within 5 minutes. If we’d had cut squid everyone would have caught many fish. They were totally unprepared to provide us with a successful trip.
The only admission of fault came from the first mate telling me that “we should’ve had cut squid or live bait.” The captain only said “we just couldn’t find any that were biting.” Horse crap.
No acceptance of responsibility for taking our money and not fulfilling a best effort on their part.
Oh and when we got back a group had returned from a large party boat where a couple showed us the 6 large snapper they had brought back with tales of catching many fish on their boat and using squid.
Hudson Marina took our money and didn’t care about the disappointment of the 4 kids I took on the trip.
Typical tourist trap. Don’t get sucked in.

We had a great trip. The crew was excellent, especially with the younger fishermen on the trip. Steve was very patient, and worked very hard to assist everyone. Water was a little choppy, but the captain kept us on the fish. I would definitely recommend the semi private trip over the party boat one, as I had previously did the party boat 2-3 times in the past. 6 hours may seem like a long trip, but keep in mind that it takes over an hour to get to the fishing spots, and over an hour to get back in so you fish for like 3.5 hours. If you only deep sea fish 1-2 times a year like I do for 1 day, it is worth the extra money for a longer trip. I may even try for an 8 hour next time. This was my 4th trip with Hudson, and it has been a great experience every time.

This place is great, and I want to clarify something from a recent review... Recently someone said the boat stopped at a weed line to fish which we in fact did. If you know ANYTHING about saltwater fishing you know a weed line is a fisherman's dream holding mahi mahi and other great fish. A captain makes stops for 30 +/- minutes over reefs and then moves when the bite stops. As I said, I was on that specific trip and I brought back plenty of fish, and over 100 fish were brought back in total on the boat. Non stop bites. Great crew, great captain. Fishing does not and never has meant catching. It does take marginal skill and knowledge. Sounds like a few salty guests need some more time on a boat to learn the bite. I live in Pensacola Florida with over 600 other charter options to go with and I always come over to Hudson marina (hour drive) because it really is that good.

This is my third time going out fishing with Hudson. We booked the 6 hour walk-on private charter. Upon arrival in the morning, they advised me they were attempting to accommodate another group on our charter that had extra. They asked if we would be willing to go out for the 8 hour charter in lieu of the booked 6 hour at no extra charge. Of course! Had a great time. My son limited out on snapper and I enjoyed watching everyone else fish. Captain Chris and mate Austin made everyone comfortable, made sure we all caught something, were friendly and informative. My only wish was that we had been assigned stringer and bucket numbers as in previous charters so we could keep up with our fish. No big deal, we all left with meat! Keep up the great work, Hudson crews!

Fishing trip
We took a fishing trip with you guys on Wednesday June 22, 2022 at 8 am, 4 hour tour.. we were disappointed in this trip especially with the cost of almost $500. One major thing is I feel like children 4 and understand should be free, there is no way they could fish truly, or at least a much discounted rate.. it stated on the website that the young children would be able to go help drive the boat back, it was never offered to even go see it, so our youngest got nothing out of trip. Also we had been on a few boat excursions in Panama City and the captain would talk while taking us out, pointing out things and explaining what things were, nothing like that was done with any of the crew working ok there. Also when we seen the amount of people that could go on we thought boat would be bigger, our lines got caught on the other side of the boat lines several times, losing time to fish. We were also told if we didnt catch much we would move and try other spots that didnt happen but once and our boat did not catch much at all for that long. All in all I would not suggest this trip for the price after the experience.

We booked the cruise was called and asked to go later due to little intest in the 430pm one. We agreed went on the 530/6. The westherbwas overcast we were told it would sail , it was complete freezing hard rain stuck outside with rough seas, holding onto whatever we could while all the seniors and children hunkered in the cabin. Activites were limited due to the weather the kids were robbed of a fun trip- as well as the adults. There were 3 handicap passengers who were made to walk floating decks instead of being offered to wait at the restaurant landing at the end of the dock , 1 child fell and hurt himself leaving and the pirate leading the party back across the dock kept on going never offering to check on that child. It was terrible, hard rain, rough seas and over 200 bucks for my family to be miserable for 2 hours.

My family and I will be there in a couple of weeks. We have booked a 4 hour fishing trip...ive gone fishing YEARS ago and didnt enjoy it much. Simply bc there was so many people and our lines kept tangling up underneath the boat. Does this happen often on the 4 hr "boat" vs 5 hr "boat"?
Written September 22, 2023
Depends on how many people are fishing

I like using my own rod. Is this allowable on the 4 or six hour trip?
Written February 14, 2020
I am not sure if they would allow it or not. I am sure you can call to find out though.

Is it appropriate to bring an 8 month along on the pirate adventure? Is there A/C provided?
Written June 19, 2019
There is no A/C as it is an authentic wooden pirate ship. Those 7 years old and younger are required to wear life jackets, so if you have your own, feel free to bring it. Kids under one year old are free.

Does my 4 year old daughter need a ticket? Also, if I am not planning to fish do I get the same kind of ticket as my family?

Hi! Thank you for your interest. Each passenger does need to purchase a ticket. Booking is available at 251 981 4127. Trip prices start at $59.
