About
The Southern Rose is a 64 foot long, double-deck dolphin cruise boat that has been family owned and operated for over 15 years. Our amenities include outdoor and indoor seating along with a large cool air conditioned area (perfect for when the temperatures are often in excess of 90°), separate men's and women's restrooms, and a full snack and beverage bar serving all sorts of food, sodas and your favorite frozen drinks. We cruise not only the calm inland bays, but are also U.S. Coast Guard approved to travel out into the Gulf of Mexico and cruise the beach in search of wild bottlenose dolphins. This is a trip the whole family can enjoy, and as always: We Guarantee Dolphins!

Dolphins, sunset, attentive staff, and endless memories. We took this tour in early March 2023 and before the busy tourist season which meant we were able to be on a smaller boat (parasailing boat) which was clearly communicated by informative and direct phone calls from the Southern Rose/Top Tier. Our guides on the boat were both fun and professional. As someone who isn't comfortable on boats- this was perfect as I was easily calmed by the experience and knowledge of the staff. It truly felt as if they were trying their very best for all of us to walk away from this experience with new memories- which was refreshing. We saw dolphins, a beautiful sunset, the bay and entered the Gulf due to favorable conditions. Enjoy!

We visit the Gulf every year and always look for something different to do.
This year we chose a dolphin cruise.
The crew was very personable. The boat was clean and had an air conditioned area which we needed due to the extreme heat.
The captain told us exactly what to expect. He went out of his way to find the dolphins; even tag-teaming with another boat from a rival company to insure we saw dolphins. It was great!

This was our second year in a row for parasailing with this company. This year my wife and 3 of our children did the parasailing. We all absolutely loved it. The guys on the boat (I apologize for not remembering names) made it fun and exciting. We really enjoyed the way they interacted with everyone on the boat. We will definitely be back and use them again.

Do not give them your credit card number to hold a reservation!!! We go parasailing, rent jet skis, pontoon boats in Destin and many places along the coast every year. I have never had a company be so unprofessional! I called to reserve for the same day and called back shortly after to cancel. If it was not for their attitude amount charging that day no matter what, I would have scheduled the next day. They kept trying to charge my card for $724 dollars for over a week and then various lower amounts. Keep your credit card locked!! We found Ike's Parasail which was fabulous and $545 for the same 8 people!

We booked a 2 hour dolphin/sunset cruise. We left the dock and stayed within 1/4 - 1/2 mile in the Bay Area. We saw one dolphin and kept going in circles around it for almost an hour. Several couples were not pleased with staying in one area for so long. One gentleman went and talked to the captain twice and he said there were no dolphins in the gulf. After idling in the bay for an hour and having complaints he takes us out just past the bridge and guess what? We saw dolphins, lots of them. We still didn’t get a cruise, just a very slow idle. The captain was also trying to educate us on stuff but we couldn’t hear anything he said. But when the music was playing it was loud. We have been on dolphin cruises before with another company and it was great. I would highly recommend staying away from this company

So we were stuck on this crowded hot boat with a bunch of very bored kids for over 3 hours. We didn’t see any dolphins at all. It was really disappointing for everyone on board. No one communicated anything to us, so the whole time we had no idea what was going on. It was like we just went around in circles. We all sat in the sun for hours for nothing. Oh, and! They do not give refunds. Even though they GUARANTEE you will see dolphins. I’m just sad I wasted my money and my kids were so sad man. It sucks.
Just thought I should share that, because my family was certainly upset after spending almost $200 on the “cruise”. Just my honest review! Thanks for reading. There are like 100 other places you can go other than this one.

They ask you to be there 30 minutes early and our reservation started 30 minutes late so we waited for about an hour for an over-priced and underwhelming experience. The "free" banana boat ride is advertised as 10 minutes when it's really just a few minutes where they take you straight from the shore to the boat. The parasailing is also supposed to be 10 minutes in the air. It was also only a few. Apparently they had "weak lines" and our ride was cut short with no explanation. With taxes, fees and the mandatory gratuity we paid $110+ per person. What we got was nowhere near that value. I think they use several company names in their advertising also (Blue Sky, Chute Em Up, Southern Rose). Located in front of Seawind condos in Gulf Shores.

The kids had a good time. But, this was definitely a tourist trap! We did see one pair of dolphins. The captain and crew were friendly and informative. The tour was pricey and underwhelming for a hour and a half ride around the bay. We were told that the waves were to large to take the boat to the open waters. As boaters ourselves we found this to a little hard to believe. If you have kids over the age of 4, they might find this little boat trip exciting, but I do not recommend taking small ones, there was a lot of very unhappy toddlers.

Me, my husband and 15 year old daughter did the dolphin cruise and it was the best. I personally think it was my favorite part of the whole trip to orange Beach and the crew was fantastic. We saw so many dolphins. It was just beautiful and fantastic just being on a boat and just enjoying the beautiful water, the sunset and all of nature. Just beautiful. Would definitely recommend doing it.

THe Dolphin and Sunset Cruise was - perfect. Everything was as advertised. The great ticket price is $25 per person for the two hour Intra-coastal Waterway cruise. We saw many dolphins as promised. The crew treated you as an adult and delivered a wonderfully relaxing experience.
