Limestone Springs hosted sectionals this year for high school golf teams. It is a challenging course but not overly challenging.

Typical golf course food
Apr 2017 • Friends
Not anything to make a special trip for but it was good. was a little high but then you are on a golf course not like you can run to McDonalds and grab a bite between 9 and 10 so it was fine.

Great test of golf
Oct 2017 • Friends
Played in October 2017. Highly recommended. Fairways good, greens very slow but true. Lots of tee shots funnel to the left. Stay out of the rough. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Nice clubhouse. I would definitely play again.

Only Rating the Food Not the Course

Every time I visit there, I always have a great experience and food is always fresh and delicious. My favorite food there is FairWay Tom, it is so good! The prices are really affordable as well.

Course is Brutal for the Average Player
Sep 2016 • Friends
I played here recently on a guys Fall golf trip. This course has a picturesque lay out but is an absolutely brutal test for the golfer who shoots in the mid 90s. You want to make sure if you are playing here that your group are all folks who can shoot in the 80s. If you hit your drive even slightly off line it is out of play. I would probably give this course one more chance, but I am not rushing back. The other thing to keep in mind is that it is out of the way quite a bit. The course appears to be financially challenged as it was not in as nice of shape as I would have expected. When we were done playing on a Thursday night at 6:30 the place was deserted.

Beautiful course, slow play
Jul 2016 • Friends
Great course with wonderful amenities and great staff. The layout is beyond belief with elevations that will challenge you and views that will leave you breathless. We ran into a problem however with very slow play. There was a foursome in front of us, (we were a twosome), who would not let us play through from the 1st hole till then end, even with the hole ahead of them clear. They were not Lee, Jack, or Arnold, but by the way they took their time on every shot, you would think they had won a dozen majors between them. I have heard this is an issue there from other reviews as well, so be warned in case you would like to bring a book to read in between holes . Otherwise a great choice to play!

Fantastic Hidden Gem

Absolutely recommended. Great course. Cheap green fees and worth the drive. Recommend over RTJ any day. Found this after another reviewer suggested it. Greens are perfect, not crowded. Very tight fairways but beautiful views.

Great Public Golf Course.

Great golf course with awesome views. Take your bug spray. The gnats can be annoying at times, but the course is worth it!

Fun course, but needs some work.

The course: The course is a good layout and was fun to play. The greens rolled true and were at a good quick pace you'd expect from a good course. I can recall one green that they have lost some and has a bit of sand in it. This was August. The fairways were nice. The rough is challenging but not too punishing. However, it is only one cut and sometimes it can take a while to find a tee shot this is only a few feet out of the fair way. The round was worth the $49 dollars I paid. The pro shop: The pro shop was sloowwww at check in. On a Saturday morning when they were full, there was only one guy checking people in. Friday afternoon was better, but we were the only ones checking in at the time. The grill: It closed Friday afternoon at 1pm... At the turn we were fortunate that the pro shop had some crackers and candy. We did stop at the grill for an early lunch at the turn on Saturday. The hot dog was good. Those that had the club sandwich were satisfied as well. Cottage: We stayed in the on site cottage. We had both floors. Each floor has two bedrooms with two double beds, two bathrooms, a small kitchenette and living space. The bottom floor has a patio under the top floors deck. The house was nice enough. You could tell that it has been used for exactly what it is. There were stains and wear and tear. But, nothing too bad that would tarnish the experience. The only issue with the cottage is that both refrigerators were not working. They did provide a few coolers with plenty of ice though. Overall it was a good deal for accommodations. Other: Both days we played there we had a cart that wouldn't make it all 18 holes. There was no pin sheet or any way to indicate how deep the pin was on the green. There were several signs like these to lead one to believe that have trimmed the money going back in to the course. I hope the traffic picks up so they can improve on some things like more efficient employees and staffing the grill adequately.

Best value golf yet!
Oct 2014 • Friends
We were on a road trip with our best friends and the plan was to golf the Robert Trent Jones golf trail. As we were researching the golf courses, we came across someone's reviews of the golf courses near Birmingham which rated Limestone Springs higher than Ross Bridge and with a senior rate of $39 with cart, we decided to try it. Wow were we amazed at the beauty and condition of this course. Our friends said it was as beautiful as any course they've ever played. Since I've play courses like Pacific Dunes I can't say the same thing but it is clearly the most beautiful course I've played for the money. It's right up there with courses four times that rate, It was just the right level of difficulty without being frustratingly so (we have handicaps between 18-28). Also, the staff was as friendly and helpful as anywhere we've golfed and the food in the grill was delicious - try their specialty the club sandwich...it's huge so we decided to share it. Great GPS electric carts with instructions of how to play each hole (a first for us).
