The bus tour took us all around the historical part of Mobile, AL and introduced us to their historic home district as well as other sites. The seats were a little uncomfortable, but it was to be expected. The tour guide was fabulous. He and his dog were very knowledgeable. There are a lot of historic homes and buildings in this city. If you enjoy taking photos of them, the tour bus is not ideal, but it points you in the right direction for taking a self-guided tour. We picked up the tour at Fort Conde.

The tour guide, although friendly, was not very knowledgeable. It was more walking and pointing when I felt like he could have given more history info on the places we passed. He wasn't a good story teller at all and mentioned several times that he could tell us 30 or 40 more stories but didn't have time for that. So why say it? You also get copper dousing rods to try to "communicate" with spirits at 2 different points during the tour. Too much time spent doing that when he could have been giving more Mobile history. Did I mention that the dousing rods are only used where there's a water fountain? We all know how copper reacts around water. Several people left the tour before it ended, us included. But the absolute worst part was when he shouted out, as we were walking away, "you'll miss the best part, the tip jar" oh yeah we weren't tipping anyway! We have been on this sort of tour in other cities with great history knowledge and story telling that we totally enjoyed so maybe expectations were too high.

Hi Shelly, Thank you so much for your review. We certainly appreciate the time you spent with us on the tour and then taking time to give us a review. I want to heartily apologize for not 'being on my game' during the tour. I felt the same way you did and that's why I'm so glad you reviewed us! But just a few points of clarification: 1. We have used the dowsing rods effectively for some time and have chosen those locations based on customer's suggestions. And, the last one, which you missed, is behind the Fort and there is no water fountain. Those that stayed seemed to enjoy it. 2. Without sounding like I'm making excuses, this Shadows and Secrets tour is relatively new and we're still working on making it better. And, please forgive me for my attempt at humor with the "missing the tip jar" bit. It was entirely meant as a joke and it didn't come across that way. Should you wish to try our 'Strange Journeys' tour, it is a more established tour and I would hope you find it more enjoyable. I offer it FREE OF CHARGE to you and your family to see if we can make you happy with what we do. Just let me know. We do strive to make these tours enjoyable, and we are always asking for input such as this. Thank you!
