The course is laid out very nicely as each hole is its own and you rarely will have players from other holes hitting on to your fairway as they don’t go back and forth to one another like many public courses. It was very peaceful play.

We played in November (winter season rates) and the course and greens were still in pretty good shape. We played both 18s and the par 3 course a few times.

All staff were very friendly and welcoming. They food at the 19th hole was fantastic. I’m not sure why the course doesn’t advertise their bar/restaurant or clubhouse online. They have a large wrap around patio overlooking the course with plenty of outdoor seating for those beautiful blue sky Alabama days!

The one thing that made the course less enjoyable to play was that the greens crew puts the holes in nearly unplayable locations on the greens.

I’m fine with a challenging pin placement to hit at, but placing the holes on a slope where balls consistently would roll 25ft past was a joke. Even when putting up hill and lagging just past the hole on several occasions, the ball would roll all the way backwards and past where you began the putt. It was like you were on a silly putt putt course.

My 16 year-old son and I went on a 10-day road trip from New Orleans. We golfed at Grand Bear, Kiva Dunes and Magnolia Grove. All were great. But Magnolia Grove was the best. We played all 3 courses (Crossings, Falls and the Shorty) for @ $200. Service was great, staff was wonderful, food was terrific (great prices, too). The clubhouse is beautiful.

This was a marathon day of golf. We teed off on the Crossings at 7 am and finished before 11. We had a lovely lunch in the clubhouse before teeing off on the Falls at noon. We finished at 3:45 and then played the Short Course and were done b4 6pm.

We arrived two days after 4 days of heavy rain. Carts were 90 degrees but the courses were in great shape and were drying out fast. No plugging. A few traps with standing water but the fairways were not soggy. All day we were like kings playing our private courses: we were never pushed, never waited, and barely saw another golfer.

Great golf. Great people. An epic and memorable day.

Great experience as all the RTJ courses are. Some are better than others but they all challenge your game. We played the 18 hole short course as well as the regular course. The courses were in great shape, the staff was professional and the clubhouse/restaurant were typical RTJ designed. Prices are good and they even have ladies clothes. The vistas are beautiful. Perfect day of golf

Like the course, even though they do not have a "Seniors Tee". We usually have to play the "Regular Mens Tees", doesn't bother me as much as many others. My problem is with the marshals and especially the "head marshal". Many of the seniors myself included have medical problems (diabetes, HBP, etc.). With diabetes I have to have sugar free powerade in a ice chest and this marshal is very aggressive to point of being rude and physical about this. They say there is a policy of no ice chest because of an ABC policy, I have no alcohol. Have called and complained to different personel at course including the director of golf, Paul Martino. It seems that they support his behavior, while at the same time, apologizing for it. This marshal is also same way about taking a golf cart in parking lot (most of us have heavy bag and others things). One time recently, this some marshal coming flying up as I was exiting parking lot in cart to put golf bag in trunk, didn't I see the G**D**M sign saying no golf carts in parking lot. So I and many others avoid Magnolia Grove until they get this under control.

Magnlia Grove is part of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. I believe the greens here are the best in the city. While the Crossings course gets the most attention due to hosting the annual LPGA event, I believe the Falls is actually a more challenging course. And the Short course (par 3) is rated by GOLF magazine as the finest par three course in the United States.

Everything about playing here is first class. When you arrive, you stop at the bag drop where young men hustle to grab your bags and shoes out of your trunk and place them on carts. You park and walk to the clubhouse to pay and find a very nice pro shop, bar and grill. There are men's and women's locker rooms downstairs. The facility also offers meeting rooms and conference rooms in the clubhouse for corporate or golf club meetings.

Rates vary widely depending on residence, whether or not you have a Trail Card and military status. If possible, I highly recommend going on-line and making a tee time reservation and getting a tee time as close as possible to when Twilight rates begin, usually at 2:00 PM. The rate after twilight is about half the full rate and on weekdays when the course is not crowded, they will generally allow you to tee off as soon as you arrive, without waiting around until 2:00.

I generally arrive about an hour before my scheduled tee time, go to the range to get loose, then hit the putting green. Do NOT attempt to play this course without hitting a number of putts on the practice green! These greens are lightning fast, almost U.S. Open speed and trying to play without getting accustomed to the speed will be hazardous to your score.

The fairways are generally plenty wide and not difficult to hit. The problems on these courses are with fairway and greenside bunkers and water. There are no 'tricked' out holes where local knowledge is required to score. But all parts of your game will be tested.

Do not let your ego prevent you from playing the Par Three course here. This is no throw away tract for high handicappers or rank amateurs. The Par Three course is a real golf course, with severely undulating greens and deep bunkers... it just happens to consist of eighteen shorter holes. But many of the holes on the short course are more difficult than the Par Three holes on the two full size courses. The real beauty of the short course is time. You can have a great golf experience in a gorgeous setting in about two hours and fifteen minutes. And even better... it is just $28!

We had very enjoyable rounds at Magnolia Grove and we played both the Crossings and Falls courses. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, welcoming and helpful. We played in late March 2018 and found the Crossings course to have better conditions than the Falls course. We played both courses in about 3.5 hours. There were many more players on the Crossings course than the Falls course. We regret that we didn't have time to play the short course. The clubhouse, shop, bar and restaurant were all very nice. I would definitely recommend playing here if you are in the area.

We arrive at the course for our scramble. Everyone was very accommodating. I rented clubs at the course, and they included some golf balls. Ordered a breakfast was huge and delicious. The course was in great shape, and very interesting to play. I am not a great golfer, so I enjoyed the open fairways...lost only one ball in 18 holes!.

We are 2 golfing couples who have golfed together for many years. The course was in great shape and the weather was warm and sunny, but not unbearably hot. Nice breezes. The course was very well maintained and staff was friendly and helpful. I recommend the pocket sandwiches from the beer cart. The pace was excellent. Rolling fairways with just a few water hazards which will get you if you don't respect them. Over all a beautiful, challenging course.

We arrived late afternoon and played 9 holes of the short course. best short course we have ever played, a miniature version of their full length courses with incredible design features. We then drove the back nine and it was equally good. This is a great place to loosen up the swing before going onto the main courses.
We then played the falls course and enjoyed every hole. We played well with careful course management and were rewarded with good scores. Another group of "good golfers" attacked the course and it ate them up!
Classic layout renovated to high standards and the green so fast, smooth and consistent that we took the time to figure out the contours and were rewarded with some wonderful challenges. Look forward to doing the crossings next time.
