The Mobile Museum of Art includes a permanent collection of approximately 10,000 works of fine and decorative arts from America, Asia, and Europe, spanning periods from classical antiquity to the present day. The Museum is supported by a unique public/private partnership of city and community support; its facility is owned by the city of Mobile, and the art collection is privately owned. Founded in 1964, the Museum has grown from a modest initiative of the Mobile Art Association in the late 1950s, to the only accredited art museum in southern Alabama.

Upon arrival we learned that the museum was in a time of changing displays and only about 1/2 the gallery was open. I found some pieces that I enjoyed and was especially impressed with the Asian Art section. Not large but what they had were good. What really made our visit worth while was our interaction with the gift shop... More

They offer learning camps for children. I went to wedding reception here once. It was very lovely. But I have enjoyed the art work exhibits that change over the years. I still like to look at our city permanent collection. I like going to the farm markets. The walk way around the building very nice as well. Proud to have... More

The MMOA is a great place to visit in West Mobile at the park. Especially good during special exhibits.

I'll say from the beginning that we have made a single visit to the museum, so it's hardly fair to judge it completely by that occasion. However, during that visit, we were followed closely by a guard who admonished us if we approached a display too closely and appeared to be waiting for us to "do something wrong". No one... More

The museum is easy to find and parking is easy. Staff was extremely nice and helpful. The art collection was great for a small museum and the music/ sound room was great. FYI - Thursday entrance is free !!! We had a great time, allow approximately 2 hours to see all exhibitions.

When I visited the museum I was pleasingly surprised at the variety of art on display. The unique gift shop provided visitors the opportunity to take home a small artistic memory of the experience at the museum.

We enjoyed our visit to this art museum. It is small, but has a nice selection of various art forms. It's nicely laid out also. Allow 1 to 1.5 hours here.

Had a great time visiting this museum. The galleries are spacious and the overall feel is bright and airy. The special exhibition, Motet, that is there until September, is very interesting.
