I stumbled onto this place while sightseeing near the cruise ship dock. The gate was open, so I wandered in. There was no admission charge. Apparently this is a totally private venture - a 4/5 scale reproduction of 1/3 of the original fort funded and built with private funds. So, there are no park rangers or tour guides on-hand. It's... One side with the museum is open but the other building is closed for painting. And there was no one there - like no staff. Not sure how it will be in a year or two because I heard the city has leased it to the duck tour company. We shall see.

Since this was around the corner from the hotel we decided to walk over. There's not much to the grounds but the museum gives you great info on the development of the area. Very informative but shouldn't take no more then an hour to get through. Parking was very convenient across the street and was free.

We've been here before, many years ago. We were looking for the Welcome Center. We never found it. Did tour the museum. Well done. Parking stinks, I don't know who was in the parking lot, but they weren't in the museum. Museum would probably be a five star, but the other experiences overshadowed it.

We parked on Church St in front of the cathedral and took advantage of the free parking there. The museum is laid out well, within reproduced fort walls, and gives a chronological history of Mobile, but leaves out the present for the most part.

Great museum. Wonderful view from top of fort. I now understand mobile and it was fun. Friendly staff. Free bus starts route here. Self driving tour of the historic districts starts here. Or ride the trolley bus historic tour with guide for a fee. Drink machines, water fountain, and clean indoor restrooms. Free parking. Walk to dauphin st.

The Welcome Center is situated adjacent to the Fort Conde Museum. You can tour the museum at your own pace. There are no guides so you're on your own. The Welcome Center employees were extremely helpful and informative. Nice place to visit.

Housed in a reconstruction of the 18th century Fort Conde, the welcome center has everything you need to plan your days in Mobile. While you are there, be sure to check out the museum exhibits. They give a brief overview of Mobile rich and long history.

This gives you a taste of what it was like when Mobile was protected by Forts, you can tour the fort and see some of the different things that were used when the fort was in operation. It is a great place to visit. The welcome center has a lot of brochures of the many places in Mobile that you... More

Excellent place to get info for the rest of your stay in Mobile. Excellent displays of early relics and history of the town and fort. Good free parking. Sad that the Mayor has withdrawn funding from the Visitor's Center too give it to the Convention Bureau. See it while you can, unless they find a deep pocket business to sponsor... More
