    Great history
So it was a rainy day, so we decided since the beach was out, a little road trip to explore some history. The history of the ship and life aboard the ship was fascinating. Can't even imagine how loud it must have been when those 16 inch guns went off! The site also has a bunch of old jets and other older military equipment, along with an old submarine you can also tour.
Thank you for visiting and for your review! We are so glad you made the trip to see the park and enjoyed touring. We hope to be able to welcome you back soon!

Definitely worth a visit even if you’re not in the military
We visited here independently, not with a tour Lots to see here besides just the US S Alabama. The airplane hanger is full of uniforms aircraft, vehicles, photographs, and other assorted items of the US armed forces. For additional cost, you can also use a virtual reality station. I thought the gift shop was relatively expensive however, I recognize that maintaining such a facility is also very expensive. Surprise, interesting item was the confederate states submarine that has been refurbished and has been put on display

    Wonderful Collection of War Machines
We came late however we were still able to explore the USS Alabama Memorial Park. They have huge collections of war machines such as Tanks, Artillery, Aircraft, Battleship & Submarine. The USS Alabama - The Heroine of the Pacific stands proud side by side with USS Drum a Submarine. There’s an admission to enter the Battleship and Submarine. They also have an SR-71 spy plane pretty cool.
Thank you for visiting and for your review! We are so glad you enjoyed touring USS ALABAMA Battleship Memorial Park in Mobile! Fun fact: Our blackbird is actually an A-12 which is commonly mistaken to be an SR-71.

    Worth visiting
An amazing place and a must visit place when you are in Mobile. It is an aircraft, tanks and ships museum which include the South Dakota-class battleship USS Alabama and Gato-class submarine USS Drum. You can enter the last 2. There is even president Reagan’s helicopter. There is a good paid parking, many restrooms and a shop. Definitely worth visiting!
Thank you for your great review! We are glad you enjoyed your visit and hope to welcome you back soon.

The boat tour is complete, we go through all levels and we visit everything, absolutely everything: cabins, kitchens, prison, bakery .... It's super interesting and above all, super impressive to know that nearly 1,800 sailors were piling up on this boat. The visit of this cruiser also gives the possibility to visit a submarine, a real one, and there, it's the same, everything passes there and there too, it's even more impressive to imagine the sailors living in this pile of iron

The ship was gargantuan! Our family all enjoyed it- ages 7, 9, 11, 15, and two adults. There’s plenty for the younger kids to see and touch and climb, which is nice. It took us three hours to walk through all of it and we weren’t particularly slow. 😯 The submarine only took about 10 minutes.

After seeing this ship in the harbor as we passed through on a previous trip, my husband wanted to visit on a recent return visit to the area. We took our 2 teenage boys and arrived just after it opened. The indoor attractions were very interesting but the favorites of course were the USS Drum Submarine and the USS Alabama Battleship. The sub didn't take a long time to go through and they have both air conditioned as much as possible which was a plus. I recommend going when they open as it's less crowded and temps are more bearable. I would also do the 2 ships first and save the indoor attraction for last as it's cooler inside. The battleship itself was huge and I am sure we didn't see everything as we got a little turned around at times. The boys and my husband climbed up further on the ship to see things and they were absolutely thrilled with the entire visit. There is availability for groups and Scout Troops to arrange for overnight stays. We stopped to visit the Korean and Vietnam memorials on the way out. It's beautiful and so quiet and serene. If you are in the area, be sure to stop in. For $15 ($13 for veterans) it is worth it!!

My husband and I visited the USS Alabama and USS Drum earlier this week. The tour was easy enough to follow with written instructions and signs around the ships. It's amazing just quite how big this floating town is inside! We spent about 2.5 hours on the ship. We then returned to the aircraft hall to use the bathrooms and cool down a little again, before heading over to USS Drum. It was super interesting to see by comparison how compact this is. We enjoyed climbing up the ladders to see the periscope. We spent about half an hour in this bit. I would recommend wearing trainers as I wore sandals and spent all the time worrying about stubbing my toe climbing through the doors. Definitely worth visiting and great know your admission fee is helping to keep this military history alive.

Thank you for your review! So sorry to hear about your toe. I'm sure those guys on the Drum stubbed their toes quite a few times since they also had to wear sandals on the submarine!

I took my two boys aged 17 and 9.
The cost to get inside the park is $5, but then the price to go ON the ship was very high at $19 per person and my kids said they were fine just walking around. We saw many different vehicles for air, water, and land travel, but there is a dog kennel right next to the coast guard things and it was very distracting. The temps were low and I'd propbaly be howling and barking non-stop as well, but it was not the best place for the animals.
There were respectful memorials for all wars/conflicts and a gorgeous view of the water near one of the ships. The gift shop had had generic 'military' toys and merch, but also some nice postcards.
I'd recommend going once, but not as an annual thing.

This park is well worth the price of admission. We were on a tight schedule, so only spent a couple hours checking out all levels of the battleship, but you can easily spend a whole day checking out the battleship, submarine, planes and other aircraft on this property.

The ship is well-marked and you are provided with self-guiding tour handout that helps explain what you are seeing. Also there are many interpretive plaques and signs for rooms and exhibits to help explain their role, how the rooms were used, etc. Also, there were docents in several areas of the ship to help answer any questions visitors may have. We would have stayed longer to check out the exterior of the battleship, but did not due to heavy rain.

We almost didn't put the USS Alabama on our itinerary. After all, this battleship is sort of yesterday's news and both my husband and I have toured military ships before. But for some reason, I allotted two hours for this stop, anyway.

Oh, my, how I wish we had spent a half day or more there. The placards at each station contain a great deal of information and it was fascinating to us. This was by far the best explanation I've seen on a Navy ship, to teach the non-military general public about all the jobs and equipment on the ship, as well as what life was like for the sailors who were deployed there.

Fair disclosure: my husband and I are the weird people who go into a museum and read everything on every display. By the time our two hours was up aboard the USS Alabama and we had to move on down the highway, we had covered only 1/3 of the ship tour. Maybe someday, we'll be able to return.

Since the first I had heard of this historical ship which was in 1963, I have wanted to travel to see it. It has been on my "bucket list" for a very long time, and I finally got there! I was awe struck! There is more than just the ship , museum, a submarine "The Drum" and other military vehicles and planes. My biggest complaint was having to climb all the stairs, but I knew that would be there. And more air conditioning was needed. I did travel there during a heatwave , so keep in mind that the South does have intense heat/humidity during the summer time.

Went with spouse, 2 kids (11 & 2) and in-laws. Ship is very interesting IF you are into naval history, and naval ships. My 11 year old was not fond of the ladders or the closenss of everything (probably not going into the Navy) and there was enough accessible that my strollered 2-year old and spouse were entertained. My in-laws enjoyed the air conditioned theater that showed a documentary about the ship, and that is where they stayed! There was construction/repair going on so the front view of the 16" guns was not available, which was a bummer but the trip was still amazing. The staff were kind, and the interior museum items were awesome. Did not have a chance to go to the sub, as there were severe thunderstorms in the area. Lots of planes in the parking lot for pictures!

Thank you for visiting and for your review! We are so glad you and your family enjoyed your time at the park. We are currently in the middle of replacing the 80-year old WWII teak deck on the USS ALABAMA. This would explain why a section of the fantail was covered. We hope you will be able to visit again soon to see the completed work.

The museum was great! They have the USS Drum, the USS Alabama, and numerous airplanes! It takes a while to explore.

The sun was easy tour. There is one way in, one way out. The sub has been there since 1969. It has head space and aisles are walkable straight on so you don’t have to side step. There are numerous port holes which are a tighter fit. Not too claustrophobic for those wondering. Well marked inside for what you are seeing.

The Alabama has yellow tour (outside), green which is more middle of ship, and red which is lowest part of ship. All are included in ticket price. Follow the numbered arrows and pick up your guide. Things are marked but the guide has so much more.

Outside is cool with access to the bridge, most of the deck, inside turrets, and more.

In the ship gets hot but there is some AC and lots of fans. There are many doors to pass through but much easier than those on the sub.

You really get the feel for what it was like living on the ship. They have mannequins all over representing various crew.

There is history lessons on top deck and awards. There is the Evans room which is somber and a room listing all of those aboard the USS Alabama. Much of the ship is seeing engine rooms, torpedo storage, mess hall, hospital, living quarters, engineer space, communications stations, and more.

Kids and adults will both enjoy. Not great for wheelchairs and strollers because of all the stairs to see parts if ship and the port hole doors. Some of the stairs are steep and narrow. I had small backpack and had to remove it to climb some stairs.

Go and enjoy! Bring water bottle.

Aircraft museum, Battleship and Submarine tour all included with admission. Cost for military, veterans and seniors 15.00. 18.00 for other adults. Well worth the money. Minimum spend 3 hours maximum all day! Very much to see. Inside the battleship prepare for many ladders and winding hallways, stocked with ww2 uniforms, guns, cigarettes, candy, typewriters, books, just like a sailor would have had in his bunk or at the shop. Only outside of ship and aircraft museum wheelchair accessible and still worth it!
