I’m not a veteran and, obviously, have never been in the navy. But I was impressed by this ship. It’s interesting to get a glimpse into life on a World War II era ship. The entry fee also includes a tour of a submarine. I...More

Was awesome to see and explore this Great Battleship. They have a well planned TOUR ( a Green, a Red, & a Yellow ) to follow at your own pace. There is a lot of stair climbing, especially Top Side ( Yellow ). Obviously, Not...More

Great self-guided tour of a US battleship. Space below decks is huge and just keeps going. There is a reason they call these floating cities. Guns were pretty cool too.

Although it was a little cold, we did the self guiding tour aboard the USS Alabama. Very informative and educational. There were signs and information everywhere. Very realistic. Enjoyed this blast from the past immensely.

Very much enjoyed touring this place. Worth the time to stop and see the planes, especially Calamity Jane, tanks, and memorials.

I agree a stroller would be next to impossible. I would wait a few years as an 8 year old will find it impressive.

We arrived in Honolulu Friday June 25 around 3:00 pm. It was interesting packing because we were without electricity for almost 24 hours prior to leaving! Luckily clothes were all washed but we had to pack with flashlights. We left our 2 teenagers (boys ages 15 and 17) home, so there was a lot to prepare for them. Don't worry, we had people to stay with them and the house was still standing when we arrived home! We rented a car through Alamo and the lines were crazy long. We waited over an...More

Nice trip report. I'm glad you liked Oahu. I'm sure you had a good time on Big Island as well. "We followed Dusty's schedule which worked perfectly (although the Imax movie is at 1:30 not 1:00)." Had to go back & check the schedule on the list. It does say 1:30 for IMAX. tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g29222-i37-k647862… Sometimes when I go with relatives or friends we skip IMAX. Some times we go on a really hot day just because IMAX has A/C.

The trip advisor experts have helped me out big time so far. So Pensacola forum here is my question is there day trips that I can book to Alabama so we can see the USS Battleship? Or would we be better stopping of on our way back to N/O thanks in advance...More

Directions for avoiding the Mobile Tunnel (5 Replies)
This is not a question but in looking through some old forums, I found where I'd previously posted my directions for avoiding the Mobile Tunnel. I thought it might be worth posting as it's own thread so that others can find it in the future. I posted earlier today with a similar set of directions (in another person's thread) but these are actually much more detailed. We used this route last summer and got through Mobile on a Saturday with no problems! Directions: When you're on 98 (coming...More

Excellent directions..particularly the part of taking a left at 98 and going along on the causeway until you see that I 10 is clear. If I 10 is not clear..continue on the causeway and go up the hill and turn right at the light, go a couple of miles and join I 10 East
