Lovely Portuguese food from the Eurasian community is served here. Located close to the sea with a wharf stretching out, kind of romantic atmosphere during the night. Friendly community and good music heard while dining Try the crab dish (Portuguese recipe) and the Chicken Devil Curry for a start bur be warned they are hot and spicy dishes but you... More

Big outdoor food court. Nothing special. Its on the strait of Malacca. You get a nice view of the water and some Islands in the distance. There are other nice views of the water in Melaka. There is a big building going up nearby, so you get some noise from it. I wouldn't go out of my way for a... More

Portugese settlement in Melaka for decades had been known as one of the place to go for seafood. From dilapated wooden shacks some 20 years ago, it has turned into some kind of open food court, loosing its old charm for a more modern look and better hygiene but dramatic increase in prices following influx of tourists over the years.... 1st sign it's a tourist trap : Once you get out of your car, multiple shop owners will swarm over you, shoving menus in your face and attempting to pull you over to their store. 2nd sign : My wife and I are not a great fan of seafood. So we wanted to order some normal stuff like chicken, pork,... More

Gotta drive or take a cab there. Not easy to find as it isn't well signposted. Quiet place with small population of 1k+ residents, so, visit during Portuguese festivals as younger generations return to it from city. Very bustling with activities and fun then. Tiny museum which showcases old photos, traditional costumes, old household wares, etc and sells souvenirs. RM2... More

the portuguese settlement is not an old historic place. it was an attempt to support a tiny community and give them a "home". the square host a number of sea food restaurants in the evenings and is a lively place during weekends and public holidays. the food might not be so authentic portuguse, and neither is the language spoken by... As Portuguese, once again we are proud that even though we militarily occupied Malacca for trade and strategic issues, the Portuguese were able to create family ties between them and the Malays from Malacca, something that neither English nor Dutch managed to do. Despite having been a forcible occupation, the relationship with the Malays was so fruitful that gave rise... More

Went there 2 times. The place is so tourism whereby when we just arrived and walked down from car, we were surrounded by people from the seafood stall, urging you to go their stall, no. 1,3,6,8 and so on. I was so irritated since my baby niece woke up from shocked by their voice. Feel like we were in Shenzhen,... More

The Portuguese settlement isn't easy to reach if you just want to walk from the main tourist area, and probably this is the very reason why is a little tired, most of the tourists just don't go there. We visited the small museum, with a "private tour" and had a stroll around the place. Worth a visit at night. We... More
