It was a great idea to place a massive submarine – almost in the middle of nowhere – to act as a magnet for other tourist sites in Maleka. However, the tourists haven't really come, which is a shame as the submarine, an ex French 67 metre vessel, (with 22 metres width and 18m depth) which saw operational service until 2004, is huge and makes a stunning first impression.
You can walk through about half of the top level and really have a sense of the claustrophobic condition the submariners endured. The bunks and personal space is so tiny, it was hard to imagine how the crew of 50 survived for so long in such a confined space.
I would have liked to be able to wander the entire length and also to have seen what was on the lower deck – so much more could be shown. It is also a shame that the attraction remains almost an island.
Apart from a party of school children, there were few tourists – it was interesting.
As its 700m from the main roads, the Grab cabs didn't want to know for a return journey, but if you walk to big streets, then its fine.

I would rate 5 for my boy experience, able to see and touch the real submarine is worth the visit for children. Other than that, the submarine is rusted, equipment inside also have tare (probably vandalism)
You can just ignore so called "officer" who ask you to follow the line at entrance, they actually photo booth agent who selling the photos.
I could be wrong if there is day with big crowd, but I doubt it will happen at this place.
Inside submarine the walkway is narrow, so do expect some "traffic", and not quite convenient for disable ya.

Fascinating. Kids of all ages will love it!
Note that on Friday it is closed 12:00 - 14:45. Trip Advisor won’t let me suggest edits, if someone else can, please do so!
If you take a Grab you may need to grab a drink from the vending machine and wait a bit. It’s in the middle of nowhere, and no bus.

From Pantai Klebang main road to this museum, the road is totally unacceptable. Can check out my picture to see the road. When I reached the entrance, another shocked. the ticket counter are “soooo nice”. Entrance fee only RM1 for adult and RM0.50 for kids.
Inside submarine is ok but very short. You can finish it around 5-10 minutes. When you come in to this submarine, you need to open your shoes. You need to bring also your shoes during the visit inside the submarine.

Affordable price (MYR5 adult / MYR2 child / FOR children under 7 years old). This is my first time see and touch submarine. What a huge machine! I wonder how the crews can live underwater with so many wires, meters, and so little space inside. Huh😅. Okay there is also a couple of Malaysian classic jet fighter outside the park. And you can try horse riding just for RM10/person.

Having seen the one at Sydney harbour & Pearl harbour - scrolling through Trip Advisor I read about this - well I decided to head out for a look - now the sad thing is that it is not in any travel information and no brochures at hotels that inform this even exists - also if one does not have a car / motor bike or transport it would be down right impossible to get there . The signage so poor - practically non existent - you wont know whether you have reached Klebang - go past the Shah Beach motel and the SIN WU FOO tyre shop - well when you reach klebang from Malacca city - there will be a roundabout - immediately take the first left fork and head towards at sign with a figure Malaysia 1-- you need to make a right turn and then you will see a tiny sign in brown point you in the direction and keep looking for another sign to lead you to the entrance . , adequate open air free carpark available -for adults it is RM5 per entry to the compound to see the submarine ( Agusta 90 ) which was bought together, as package deal , when the Malaysia navy bought the scropene submarine - this unit is an old sub bought and used to train the submariners that currently man the actual scoprene vessels . after the training I guess they decided to sail it back to Malaysia and use as a museum piece . Also you will see at the same museum an F 5E fighter aircraft and a A4 aircraft ( both retired aircraft ex RMAF ) you are really at the mercy of the elements as hardly any shade( bring a hat / umbrella and sunglasses ) to keep you away from the hot sun or rain . Luckily inside the submarine it is air conditioned - otherwise in a non ventilated metal tube without aircon would be to say the least a disaster . I would suggest that explanation and signages be put up inside the submarine so that people know what they are looking at - as hardly any signage to explain or even indicate what one is just looking at - and please do consider at least to be dual language ( malay and english so we know what we are reading ) - there is a TV under the belly of the submarine - and you are not kept cool here - no fans to create air flow and the screen is in poorly maintained condition ( plexi glass scratched - vandalised, and display dim ) so you cannot see the movie and by the way only Malay language - so those who speak other language dont bother ! Maybe until all these issues are fixed handout pamplets are given out and please have them in english and maybe even Chinese on request .
Also do note that access to the inside of the submarine is climbing a flight of metal steps and exit is the same so those with walking dsability or climbing disbability take note - the inside passages are narrow and thus wheel chair is definitely a no can do
I would suggest Toursim Malaysia and especially the Melaka travel information center should work with the hotels to have brochures available to hand to tourists to create awareness that such exists and also on weekends when tourists are more to even have a regular bus service available .from and to the city - to encourage visitor numbers .- this place is in the boon docks - because of lack of info I was the only tourist there and there we a couple of locals ( counted 5 in all )
take a look at how Sydney / Pearl harbour do their display - and use some of the methods to incorporate to this - .

This museum is quite a way out of the centre, so need a taxi to go, get the taxi to wait for you as no taxis available at the museum. Taxi fare round trip only cost us 60rm. The museum is a French built electric diesel powered submarine. We were the only people there when we visited which is such a shame, think it's just too far out. Very interesting once inside and for ship/submarine buffs would definitely be worthwhile. Would say the average visitor would only need around 45-60 minutes to tour.

The submarine museum is part of a grand plan to create a maritime museum theme park but currently all that is standing is a submarine. Not worth the visit as you cant even enter the submarine, just merely viewing it from outside.

It was a great experience to visit this submarine museum in Melaka in may 2013 for me, it s located Dataran 1Malaysia, Klebang, around 10 km away from city centre. Before the visit i had only exposed to print n electronic media as regards to the submarine n always so curious as to the space inside, thus it s so interesting to be really inside one just to experience how the space constraint really means, and more with all the machanical, electronic n electrical equipments inside the sub's body, u really experience what it is like to be "confined " in a submarine !
Friendly staffs are around to answer your queries , as for me i found it interesting to find out the shooting of topedoes !
On top of all that experience , the entrance fee is just myr 1.00 for adult and 50 cents for children at the moment, though i have heard that the fees might be adjusted once the upgrading works have been done !
Just a word of cautious though, i find that there is not enough signage to show the way to this great place, hopefully the authority will take action on this fast as i see this is a wonderful experience that is hard to come by anywhere around this region , dont miss it when u are in Melaka guys !

Brought my children here aged 6 and 8, because I wanted them to have a feel of what it’s like to be in a real submarine. We had a car so it was easy to go to this place with the help of google maps. Parking was free. There was quite a lot of people, considering the fact that we were there on a weekday afternoon. Sun was hot, but the interior of the submarine is air conditioned. It was quite fascinating to see how cramped the space is for the crew and how many buttons and knobs there are within this piece of machinery. There are some mannequins in the submarine, so be mentally prepared so that the children don’t get a fright.
There are two jets outside with which one can take photos with, these are located in a sheltered area.
We were in and out of the whole place in less than 30 minutes. Entrance fee was cheap at RM5 for adults and RM3 for children.

Hi, I'm going to melaka with my boyfriend this coming Monday. It's my first time to go to melaka. What hotel near to this place?
Written February 22, 2018
For first-timers, it would be advisable to stay at a hotel within the main attraction area, so that you can experience the walk within the area. Lots of hotels within the Dataran Pahlawan area.
For the submarine museum, you definitely need transport. Advisable to use Uber/Grab.

HI, I am planning on visiting Melaka next month and would really like to see the submarine.
I assume that I'll have to travel there by taxi. I see that the site is a bit remote - will we have any problem getting back to town centre?
Thanks for advice, Jim
Written March 13, 2015
Hi Jim,
Yes is a remote area. If you taking a taxi, you may ask the taxi to wait for you or you may seek for local tour guide to assist you.
Cheers,
Felicia
