Beautiful place terrible guide
Aug 2020
Beautiful lake. TERRIBLE guide service. 4 of us drove 4 1/2 hours for a 3am to 9am trip. The guide didnt show up until 6am and only had enough baitfish to last an hour. The rest of the time we sat in the boat and watched him throw a spoon for hours. Do NOT waste your time or money. We spoke to Mike on the phone for a month but then when we got to Alabama he sent us out with someone else. We expressed we werent happy and Mike shrugged it off like he didnt even care. Not once did he even ask what the problem was.

Too near cullman
Jul 2020 • Business
Make sure you visit the side not located near Cullman. Unless you like small minded unfriendly natives.

Fun for everyone
Apr 2019 • Family
I live at Smith lake and it is beautiful year round. Our children and grandchildren love to visit. The water is very deep and clear. There are sandy beaches too. We go out in a pontoon boat and pull the kids on a float. We all love to go to places where we can jump off the rocks - some as high as 35ft. Our rule is that everyone wears a life jacket for safety. We have fun fishing too. We catch and release and have caught fish up to 16 lbs, but there are much larger ones we have seen. Their are plenty of homes available for rent by day, week, and longer. During the summer, there is an ice cream boat for cold treats. You don’t have to get wild with skis, knee boards and floats. People also paddle board, kayak and swim. The people are friendly and will often be seen sitting on their docks. Just cruising the lake sight-seeing and checking out the beautiful architecture is very relaxing. Come and enjoy one of the cleanest lakes in the country.

We enjoy viewing the lake while in our boat. There are so many beautiful bluffs and places to stop to swim.

Aug 2018 • Friends
Wow, what an amazing structer, hard to believe this dam was constructed out of rock and dirt and was the largest of its kind when it was built.

Beautiful lake

I love this place. Have been going here for years. Beautiful lake and beautiful houses built on lake that are awesome to see. Did a lot of boating on this lake as our children were growing up and they loved it too.

Don't rent a boat from Don Freeman
Jul 2018 • Family
You will see lots of signs for boat rentals near Duncan Bridge Marina on Smith Lake. These signs are posted by a local crook named Don Freeman. The man is a cheat. His boats are junk and most are beyond repair. He accepts only cash - the first sign he is a crook. He rented us a boat, and we took it to our rental house to pick up members of our group. It was very hard to start. We returned to the marina to get help from Don, but he claimed to be 2 hours away (indication number 2 that he is a crook). We tried to start the boat again, and it would not start - the battery died. His rental manager (Dave) came after a long wait, but he refunded only $70 out of $150. Just don't rent from these people. They are true Alabama crooks.

Most relaxing vacation ever!
Jul 2018
The lake has the clearest water, not a lot of boat traffic. We were at the beginning of a cove. We had the big water view, but not much traffic. Spent the entire week just lounging in the water. We will be back!
