Historical Civil War Stop

Dates back to the Civil War days where one can see evidence of northern Civil War prisoners being held here. Good for children 10 to adults who lie history.

I have visited this site a number of times and found it was closed. That said you might want to check the operating hours to insure you don't make a trip for nothing. Perhaps the Museum can post a message here for the sake of travellers.

The train museum is hidden in a valley North of town and East of A&M University. The indoor and outdoor train displays will provide hours of entertainment for parents and smaller kids who like to crawl on things. There is a good representation of past train models and types. The best part of this small museum is the volunteers who... More

Enjoy the trolley to this museum. The place has a good amount of history and there are stairs to upper area. I don't know about an elevator because we didn't need it. Wonderful part of history

We have taken children and grandchildren on their private railroad several times. It brings back fond memories of when train travel was the best way to go.

This place appears to be maintained by dedicated and talented volunteers. It's not much of a museum, but it does have special train trips several times a year. For example, around Easter, there's a bunny and some cute little helpers passing out candy. The train ride lasts about as long as a young child's attention span--20 minutes or so--and there... More

The North Alabama Railroad Museum is a volunteer run organization and they do a great job. Tickets do usually need to be bought in advance which you can do from their website. The rides are fun, especially for kids. Extra special rides include picking pumpkins, seeing the Easter Bunny or meeting Santa! Since this is run by volunteers and donations,... More

Thank you so much for your review, and for noticing our efforts. Yes, the seats are reserved, so we always recommend that tickets are ordered in advance (especially for our Santa Train, and tickets are presently available !). It's very easy to do now, you can go to our website (sorry, they rejected the link when I put it in),... More

I took my son and grandson on the Father's Day Ride conducted by the Museum and found it some what disappointing. Don't get me wrong, you properly get a kick out of it if you are a train enthusiast. But for an average person, even with a three years old boy that love everything and anything about train, it is... More

We appreciate you riding our Father's Day Train, but we are sorry you were disappointed. You did say you got a proper kick out of it, the passengers cars were comfortable, and the people running the train were friendly. And best of all, a three year old enjoyed anything and everything about trains, so it does sound like it was... More

I loved it, but tyat might be because my dad's family grew up there, grafting fruit trees at the nursery.

If you're imagining a long or even semi-long ride to a big open field with pumpkins everywhere, you will be disappointed. I brought my ten-year-olds, while they enjoyed it, they were a bit too old. We enjoyed watching the little kids get a kick out of it for sure. The train ride is pretty short and when it ends you... More
