About
Open 9a - 5p; Last entry 4p * The Alabama Safari Park has been welcoming visitors from all over the world since 2018, to explore and experience 350 acres of wild animals up-close as they roam free. As you make your way along the safari drive, stop to feed the animals our specialty grain mixture. You’ll never forget the experience of one of our bison or zebras eating from your bucket of feed. From the comfort of your car, you’ll see antelopes, bison, deer, emus, ostriches, wildebeest, zebras and many more. Roll down your window and extend a bucket of feed and you’ll get a visit from many of them wanting a snack. Interact with our animals safely from your vehicle while exploring our 350-acre drive-thru safari, on foot walking through our village walk-about, up close when feeding the giraffes on the giraffe tower, or in the petting area where you will find all your farmyard favorites.

- Brittany BNashville, Tennessee83 contributionsThis is a great stop to break up a long road trip with younger children. The giraffes are our favorite! Definitely get lettuce for them at the end. I would recommend getting one more bucket of food than the number of people in the vehicle. Avoid the llamas that tend to be more aggressive, and watch out for the bucket bandits! - Maps324555733982 contributionsI want to first say that we absolutely LOVE this park! Have been multiple times and are always so happy with experience! Especially the giraffes. Which brings me to the "not so good part". I love the giraffes and planned to do the giraffe encounter on this trip, was so excited! Was very disappointed with the whole experience! There was nothing to it, can do the same or more on giraffe tower and save the $25, just could buy extra cups of romaine to feed them. I would not recommend spending your money on this experience, was such a let down and waste of money for 3 people. But again, the rest of the park experience is outstanding! Staff are friendly and great!Visited November 2024Traveled with familyWritten November 3, 2024
- Heatherk321Pensacola, Florida436 contributionsWe bought a family pass and have been several times this month. There’s always plenty of animals to feed and the place is well kept. My kids love feeding the birds and the giraffe. There’s so many animals and it takes about an hour to drive through the loop. We’ve done the tractor ride once and it lasted about an hour, it’s just way too hot unless you get there early. Plenty to do for young and old. We spend an average of 2 hours here every time we come.Visited June 2024Traveled with familyWritten June 20, 2024
- Tracey MBluemont, Virginia500 contributionsWe had a blast driving through this park. The animals, especially the llamas, come right up to your car to be fed. There are so many animals. Be careful feeding the camels because they took my entire bowl of food. After the drive you get to walk through a portion of the park that has giraffes and a bird area. Make sure to buy lettuce at the store as well as bird food sticks for the budgies. You get to feed the giraffes lettuce, they come right up to you!! The budgies are similar to canary birds and are so much fun to feed. If you hold up your bird food stick, they will land on you to eat. This stop is a must for family fun!!Visited April 2024Traveled with familyWritten April 5, 2024
- RobersonMississippi228 contributionsThis facility is very clean. The workers were very nice and helpful. The animals were great. I wish there were more animals in the petting zoo part. The wagon ride was great. Our guide was very informative and nice. Over all we enjoyed our trip. We were on site about 2 hours and saw it all. Thank you to all the workers for taking care of the animals.Visited June 2024Traveled with familyWritten June 20, 2024
- Darrell BDothan, Alabama11 contributionsMy wife and I were very surprised at the up close and personal experience to these wonderful animals. They all looked very healthy and well taken care of. We were able to feed buffalo, wilder beast, zebra, llama and so much more. This place provides a once in a lifetime experience. We loved it.Visited August 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten August 4, 2024

We made our second visit to Alabama Safari on 6/1/22 with our 3 granddaughters. We chose to pay extra to ride their wagon through the park and that is a great option as it gives you greater access to the animals along with it being a 'guided tour' with the tractor driver (today our driver was Bethany) providing information about the animals you encounter along the way. An added bonus is that there is a roof over the wagon to provide cover from the sun on hot days.
Our kids had a great time visiting the petting area, the bird aviary and feeding the giraffes before entering the Safari. We spent about an hour in the park and all had a great time. I recommend this as a great outing with kids!!

Terrible experience with strong animals taking our whole buckets, ripping it out of our hands. We were told to only place buckets outside the car and windows need to be all the way up or all the way down. …To protect the animals from busting the windows.
A zebra bit me on my arm and 2 buckets ripped from our hands. A sign by the camels says be careful, bucket stealer. Even prepared they are too strong and we couldn’t feed them without losing the bucket. Was told not to feed them by hand. So we had to exit the park. Girl in gift shop that told us all the information just laughed.
They should tell people how to hold bucket, give extra empty buckets to pour a little feed into them per animal, or to avoid certain animals.
There was some good on this tour but not enough for us to come back or even recommend to others.

Unforgettable! We stopped here with my two year old to break up our trip from the North Georgia Mountains.
*Beware the emus! They are greedy little buggars and stick their beaks way into your car! When they peck the feed out of the bucket, it goes everywhere. They are scary! Like Jurassic Park, there’s a dinosaur in my car scary! If you want to get away from them you have to put the feed away and drive slowly forward. It’s dangerous to close the window while they’re feeding but that’s what you want to do. Feed the other animals when the emus aren’t around.
* You get mobbed at the front entrance. If you can get by the animals, save your feed until there’s a smaller crowd and you can pick which animals you want to feed.
* The llamas have a system! One llama will stand in front of the car while the other one goes to your car window and waits.
* You’ll get feed all over your car. Just vacuum afterwards.
* At the end you can buy $2 budgie birdseed and $5 lettuce leaves for the giraffes
* They are part of the reciprocal zoo system and offer a military discount for active duty.

Very fun, probably about the price of going to a zoo but you get up close and personal with the animals. Hang on to your food bucket with the camels and the ostriches! Make sure to stop and see the giraffes in the walking path. You can buy food to feed the animals on the drive and then diffeitems for the giraffes, goats and budgies. Recommend.

This was a really fun experience for our family as we were travelling to the beach. It is a drive-thru safari where you can feed (from your car) all kinds of animals. The admission was a little pricey ($21.95 for adults & $16.95 for kids & $5 per bucket of food), but worth it. They also have a small gift shop, petting zoo, and bird house all close together. Also have a giraffe feeding station where you get to feed and touch the giraffes. I would allow 2-3 to experience the whole park.

This was an unexpected joy for all. Lots of happy kids and parents. Do not pass up getting a food bucket for every person in car, you will need it. These animals, especially the llama’s will stick their head into your car to eat food. They are friendly and safe. It was really a lot of fun and worth the price. The drive took us an hour fifteen and you can go around again if you want.
Don’t feed all your food on the llama’s at the front... You can feed camel’s, giant bulls, deer, in the middle and end. At the end you can feed lettuce to a giraffe on a raised platform and can feed birds that fly onto your finger.
Yes, it is pricy. We dropped $115 for a family of 5 with admission and animal food. I would definitely stop here as part of a vacation going someplace else bc it is right off the highway.
My last advice is that if you baby your car and can’t live another day with the possibility of a tiny scratch or door ding...this isn’t for you. The cows with the giant horns will move their heads and bump into your mirror or touch your car. Nothing big or the slightest problem, but an just FYI.

The animal care within this facility is awful, the management simply does everything that they can do to make or save money, regardless of how it affects the animals within their care. The workers don't love working here and there is so much drama happening that they will willingly talk to you about if you talk to them.
One of the keepers described to me the lengthy list of animals they had personally watched suffered and die over a period of time when a humane decision should have been made for the animals best interest.
I will never again support this company or any others owned by the absolutely terrible Eric Mogenson.

We were driving from Wisconsin to Florida when we found this place online. The photos and reviews sold us. It was my wife and I and our 2 daughters aged 2 and 7. It was an amazing experience! We both thought it was expensive, but definitely worth the admission. We all laughed so hard and we screamed a few times. These were the memories vacations are suppose to make. My 2 year old wanted to hug every animal. My 7 year old didn't know weather to be afraid or to laugh while wanting to feed each animal.
Some animals are a bit intimidating and agrressive eaters. However these are wild animals, they know where where their meals are coming from. We all agreed that we were happy to have stopped. You enter the park at your own risk and drive your own vehicle. Which most likely will need a vacuuming, a car wash, and maybe even a detail when done. I would not drive any exotic sports cars, classic cars, or any very expensive car that you may worrie about through this adventure. Just a warning! Animals come right up to the vehicles, maybe bumb your car, chew on your antenna and so on.
We highly recommend you stop if passing through to experience this and make some family memories! Cool place

Unique adventure for us and the grandkids. It will be unlikely you will spend more then 2 hours...and if you went "fast" you could do it in an hour. If you do this, buy the food. buy 2 buckets for the drive through and another for the goats and the lettuce for the giraffes. Feed the animals up close and personal is the fun of it. Kids love it.

Finally made it here after five years in the area. Went on a beautiful November fall day and there were plenty of people there but it didn't fell crowded, which was great. Lots of fun memories made with my son, including feeding the giraffes and one very greedy llama (among many). $40 for admission for two of us plus $15 in food, including a souvenir cup worked for us. That got us two buckets of food for the driving portion. That ended up being a good amount for us. Staff was friendly, restrooms were clean, all in all I was impressed.

Not sure about that. It's a big space, but we didn't stick around after we went through the park, so I don't know if there are tables or an enclosure or anything like that.

We are stopping on our way to Florida this summer to visit the Safari park. Does anyone have recommendations for good hotels nearby? I see Holiday Inn Montgomery South, but I'm wondering if anyone can recommend another place? We will be staying one night.

Planning to stop here on our way to Florida this summer. Wondering if there are any restaurants to stop at for a quick lunch after visiting the park?
Written January 17, 2021
From what I remember, there is nothing around the Safari Park. It is quite isolated. Your best bet would be to back track a bit to Montgomery for lunch.
Written January 17, 2021
$16.95 admission for adults. They do charge extra for feed for the animals ($4.00 for feed and $1.50 for budgie sticks - you may need more than one because the llamas and camels are greedy).
Written July 8, 2019
How much time should we plan in for the visit ? How big is the park ? Thank you !
Written July 15, 2018
We were there 3 hours and could have stayed longer. Once you pay, you are allowed to go through repeatedly. We went twice and played in the petting area as well as the aviary.
