Enjoy the beautiful gardens as you take an easy hike around the lake. Also there is a Veteran's Memorial and sculpture in the gardens. Go inside the house to see art collections that change periodically and Frank Fleming sculptures.

We love Aldridge Gardens and so there several times a year. They are great for family get togethers as well. We have a huge picnic there each year.

On Sundays, we usually try to go for a drive and explore something new. We did a search for parks online and found this. Neither one of us had heard of it before and decided to make the drive from the Chelsea area. Wow, we were very pleasantly surprised. Lovely gardens for strolling. You can even purchase food to feed the ducks from the bridge or boardwalk area. It also hosts special events in the pavilion area. There was prep for a wedding going on when we were there. Restrooms are also available. We have since returned to this hidden gem to spend quality time.

I recently moved close to Aldridge Garden. I would get up early in the morning a go jogging. I was extremely impressed and started going at least once a week. Today I was stopped as I entered and told I could not jog here. I have been telling people how beautiful it is and how much I enjoyed the jog. I guess I’ll start letting people know the Gardens don’t like joggers.

The park is well worth an hour walk for garden lovers. they have a great variety of everything, but it is best visited in early spring when the azaleas are out.

We visited Aldridge Gardens this past week. It is Spring so the flowers and trees were showing off. As you enter the gardens you are filled with a sense of peace and tranquility. There is a nice lake with a covered area where you can sit and enjoy the view or feed the large fish and turtles. Various trails wander through the gardens. There is a bridge leading to a Veteran’s memorial. Throughout the garden are whimsical statues and seating areas created by a local artist. They have a gift shop on the property. My grandkids love coming here and we have had some lovely family pictures made at the gardens. It is a real treat right in Birmingham.

This may be the crown jewel for a small southern city like Hoover. The Aldridge family was very generous, and the flora is outstanding. Some real special plants are there. It is not large, and can easily be enjoyed in a couple of hours.

Aldridge Botanical Gardens is a surprise in the midst of a modern suburban area of Birmingham. It is a tranquil oasis of superbly maintained walking trails that are primarily dirt and mulch -- very easy to walk on. There is a lake trail that is 0.5 miles and very easy terrain, but tree roots probably rule out wheel chair users.

The bonsai collection includes some large specimens of atypical varities -- was that an azalea we saw? There are ducks and turtles on the lake and we saw a fisherman pull a fish out of the lake. Garden sculptures here and there add a delightful touch of whimsy.

Dogs on leash are allowed on Monday - Thursday from 4 - 7 IF you are a member.

The kids like the nature trail. It's pretty short, and has many interesting things to look at, no matter the season. Great stop for family or a date
