Fees were reasonable, putting and greens were not up to par with the course designer. This course is in need of improvement. I realize it is not the perfect season yet but this course has a long way to go. I have played worse but this is close. I considered it a waste of time.

On spring break, first rounds of the year, this is a good course to shake off the winter rust. The course is not pristine, the greens were slow, and the turf is rough in spots. But your not spending an arm and a leg to play. Very family friendly, Others in our group had to deal with course ranger who... More

The course has some challenging greens and all of them are guarded by traps. There are several 90 degree dog legs. Fortunately, the fairways are wide open so even a bad slice or hook can recover. Lots of birds, live oaks, palms, azaleas and the resident alligator (of course). The price is right too.

This was the first course we played on this trip to Gulf Shores and it was the least expensive of all the courses we played. The fairways were in good shape but the green were very thin in places and appeared to be in a recovery state. But it is a very playable course, not so hard that you were... More

This course had some very slow playing golfers that didn't know to let faster players play through. It took me 3 hrs to play 9 holes. The price to play here is very well priced but be prepared to play the slowest round ever. Btw I'm not a scratch golfer either in saying all this. I'm a normal guy that... More

The Refuge course was long, had a lot of dog legs and sand traps (no surprise there). It was challenging enough to be enjoyable for hubby, without being too hard for me from the ladies' tees. It was cart-path only the day we played as they had just punched the fairways and also gotten some much needed rain, although the... More

I really like this course. It was long and had a lot of dog legs. It was completely different than my home course. The value was out standing. While there may be better courses in the area I found this one fun and 1/2 the price. It was close to the beaches and condo we rented. To top it off... More

It was busy but it didn't take that long to play (less than 4-1/2 hours). The course had a lot of character (read: sand traps and water). We would have gone back again, but the weather turned awful and we didn't get to play again before we left.

While vacationing in Gulf Shores area, played Gulf State Park Golf Course. Was surprised they had senior rates. The course was in very good condition for February. It was a fun course to play. Lots of snowbirds.
