We are not interested in trains, nor model trains, nor railroads, nor boxcars, nor locomotives, nor even Petticoat Junction, but this museum kept us entertained for at least an hour (if not more). Be sure to ask for the scavenger hunt sheet (intended for kids but we are pretty big kids), because then you will look for (and find) all the various vignettes (had we not been looking for someone sunbathing, we never would have realized she was there). The volunteers are fantastic full of stories and love of their craft. I am still not a train aficionado but we came away with more appreciation for this hobby.

Many of the exhibits as you enter the museum are about the history of Foley. One exhibit featured one of my favorite football players Kenny "The Snake" Stabler who is a native son. The museum also featured other famous people from Foley including the author of Forrest Gump. Next to the museum is a full size train. You can go into the caboose which gives you an idea of the working space that conductors use. The only negative was that the model train museum was closed. Having had model trains as a child I was looking forward to seeing the exhibit. Overall we enjoyed our visit and hopefully when we are in the area in the future the model train exhibit will be open.

My first thought about stopping here was that the visit would be short but in fact we stayed about one hour. The small museum was of some interest with the history of Foley but the model trains were the main attraction. We were there on a day and time when the trains were running. There were two freight trains, two passenger trains, one Thomas the train, a streetcar and a N gauge train circling a park. If you wished you could also do a sort of scavenger hunt finding all the buildings etc. in the village. This helped one to concentrate on all the details in setting up the model train exhibit.

If you like trains, you'll love the Foley Train Museum. Outside is a real train with four cars, one a caboose you can walk through, with original equipment and furniture. Inside the museum is the train exhibit. I think they said the exhibit foundation was 20 ft long, 10 ft wide, and about 4 ft high, and when you walk through the room that houses the exhibit, you'll find at least four electric trains, all running electronically on different tracks at the same time around a wonderful miniature town that is inter-connected by small streets with vehicles on the streets. The town and the surrounding area includes hundreds of buildings, miniature people, cars, everything one would find in any town. The volunteers are extremely helpful, and they give visitors a "find" list of buildings & businesses that are scattered throughout the area. We found almost all on the list, including the animals from the visiting circus. It was just fun, and all FREE.

Small Free railroad museum. They have a small miniature train that the kids can ride and a rather large model train set up, both were not operating while we were there, so if that is important call for detail. They also don't want kids of any age walking on top of the locomotive or other cars, duhhh.. Well I suppose some would try. The history of the depot was very interesting. You can walk through a caboose and look into the locomotive. Items of interest inside the depot also Yes worth a hour of you time to stop

Good thing this is free! That ends the positives. We went at 2pm, they were suppose to be open until 4pm. They had very little train artifacts inside, seemed more like a Foley history stop. The model trains had already been closed for the day. The trains outside were already locked for the day.

This is a wonderful place for adult or child. We have been several time and never tire or it. The gentleman that run the model train are wonderful. They donate their time and make it an experience like no other. Can't say enough good about this place. When in Foley please don't miss it. Well worth you time.

Good way to spend an hour. best part is the large model railway setup. Several trains and nicely made diorama with wonderful detail. It's not of Foley specifically but near to it.
The full sized cars and engine are not as detailed as could be.
Free Parking and Admission.
Open limited days, call ahead.

Our 3 year old son loves trains. He spent over an hour just watching the model train display run circles. If you are in the area stop by and check them out. We are going back again this week because he had such a great time

This is a very nice display of model trains. We enjoyed the movie playing in the next room with the model buildings zoomed in with extra explanation included. Our kids really, really liked the scavenger hunt at the model train display. The train ride was really fun also.
