Went over easter weekend and had a nice hike down to a valley campsite about 2 miles in from the AL trailhead. Several other groups camped there, but it is a large area and could accommodate several more. We hiked out to the walls the...More

This was my first time here and first time backpacking. I was well aware of the steep incline we would need to take heading back out so as long as you are prepared mentally and physically you should be ok. It was definitely worth it...More

This is about as steep a hike as you can get and still be in Alabama. It is best to be prepared with plenty of time and water - it is an effort to get here- allow plenty of time to hike all the way...More

This is a really nice place, but a tough hike, especially when wet. The trail is not well worn and it is easy to get off trail, expecially on the way up as the trail is easier to see when looking down. Cooler in the...More

This is a wonderfull trail, with great views. The trail is easy to follow, strenuous, especially on a hot day! But the views are worth the work!

The trail started at an easy pace, but grew in difficulty after the first mile. It was well worth the trip to see the walls & the pool!

I was invited by a long time friend to go backpacking to the Walls. I had done the hike twice as a day hike (the last time being 2 years ago). I was a bit skeptical as I haven't backpacked in so long but the...More

My wife and I hiked the trail with our 13 year old son and 16 year old daughter over spring break. The scenery was amazing with wild flowers and the blue green water of the river at the bottom. The single rail log bridges across...More

We did this hike over Thanksgiving with my 7 year old. Camping overnight helped to split up the hike to make it doable with a child. It's not a long hike, but the way back up is steep. It's a good idea to pack water...More

There are several places to camp at several elevations. Some sites are close to the creek but others are higher up. If you really want to go in a rainy stretch, I'm sure you could find a good camping spot.

From the AL Trailhead a little over 2 miles to the floor of the canyon and primitive campsites. Another mile up to the top of the falls, so a little over 6 miles total. The last 2 miles out and up are steep and strenuous... More
