This is one of the coolest hikes I have ever done, here or overseas. You should pack a lunch, snacks and a good bit of water. The big waterfall was dry when we went and we covered the hike in a little over 4 hours....More

Make sure you go to the NORTH Parking lot for hikers and not the horse trail lot a mile to the south! This is a must-do hike. The canyon is really pretty, and the area is clean despite the somewhat heavy traffic. We saw 12-15...More

This is by far the most amazing natural place in Alabama and possibly one of the most difficult and amazing hikes I have ever done. Be very prepared before going here. The hike in is a nice pleasant downhill for 3-4 miles, hiking out is...More

This is a challenging hike- downhill for 4 miles, some fun log crossings and a nice cascading waterfall at the end. But the four miles back UPhill, out, were very tough. In my opinion, it wasn't worth all the effort just to have seen a...More

A surprisingly tough hike out to the AL trailhead once you've been down to the gorge. Well worth the effort and if you are backpacking, there are several nice and level camp sites. Be careful around the rock ledges as it can be slippery. Highly...More

Spent 4.5 hours hiking to the walls of Jericho on a Saturday morning. Great hike in the fall with temperatures in the 70s. Wear good shoes and take a walking stick since some of the areas have slippery rocks even when dry. Bring extra shoes...More

It took me about two hours in and two hours out, but I went slow going in and fast coming out. The hike out is definitely more strenuous because it is mostly uphill. Almost the entire trail is shaded. There are a lot of plants...More

There are several places to camp at several elevations. Some sites are close to the creek but others are higher up. If you really want to go in a rainy stretch, I'm sure you could find a good camping spot.
