This is a interactive museum. Perfect to felling how deep is the Brazilian Culture, focusing in northeastern of Brazil. We watched a video about the nature and changes of temperature in the called sertao (drylands) and how the people who lives there. I felt a deep emotion watching this short movie. In addition , we can go ahead and listen and learn about a legendary singer called Luiz Gonzaga, a artist which sang about the dryland life of the people of northeastern of Brazil. This museum is a perfect place to see what exist behind the scenes, in other words, what exist behind the culture of Recife city, what exist behind each piece of handicraft being selling in Recife. Must to see, it is a good place to have a break if you are tired (physically, of course) from the gorgeous beaches from Pernambuco State.

It shows so much about the northeastern drylands with interactive material to give you a taste of the music and lifestyle of people that make this Brazilian region so special. I specially liked the shorts presented on a huge curved screen that is so immersive and well presented. Also the personal interviews from famous and not so famous north-easterners that made their way into the 'south' to better themselves and their families which include Brazilian former president Lula.
We didn't find it particular accessible as the only lift was undergoing maintenance and making our way into the museum was awful as there is plenty of works ongoing around it affecting sidewalks and pedestrian lanes are poorly accessible as well if you are on a wheelchair or pushchair. Also frustrated because we couldn't get our 2 year old son to play with the instruments they have available for that on a particular section as it's currently only available for 7 year olds or more.

Our tour guide dropped us by this place and I am glad it was on a Tuesday because it is free admission on Tuesdays!
Most of the explanations about the exhibits were in Portuguese which made it difficult to read! It also made be aware of how blessed we are to have our amazing museums in Fort Worth.
I was actually kind of disappointed in the museum as it really did not show the history of Brazil, but who knows as I could not read the information.
The area itself is kind of interesting, it is in the old part of town and had many old, as in 500 year old buildings around.
I dug the prison that has been transformed into a shopping area better.
I would have loved to go see the old fort which was within walking distance.
The people who were working there did seem very proud of their museum!

Sophisticated and modern museum, very nice instalations. Enjoy the surroundings, take some time and step in Paço do Frevo, a tribute to Recife´s carnival !!!

It's a very nicely restored old dock, with a huge collection of Pernambuco artesanato (arts & craft). Definitely worth a visit. And it located on the waterfront in old down-town.

It is the last place to see at Old Recife (Recife antigo), because you'll spend a lot of time know about the music, costumes, clothes and even a house (with cookware) of the man of the Northeast (a very dry region).

I went to this hotel when I needed to go to the USA Consulate in Recife. It is a new and clean hotel. Nice restaurant. Helpful staff. The room is confortable, but the bathroom was somehow old. But very clean.

Unless you speak Portuguese there is no reason to visit this museum which is a shame as it is a nice new building with colourful displays.
The fact the museum uses modern replicas of old clothing, artefacts etc is also disappointing as it would have a greater feeling of authenticity if it used original pieces.
