. Nandan is a popular cinema complex, maintained by the state government. This theater complex holds regular shows of national and international cinema. It is the regular venue of Kolkata film festival. Well maintained and neat atmosphere. It's location is apt for cultural events.

You can watch Bengali films here for very minimal rate. Area looks beautiful in the evening and gets a bit crowded. I loved this place and you can go there once to checkout.

People come to Nandan to watch best films in town at economical rates. The Rates are 30, 50 & 70 for front, back & balcony seats respectively (December 2018). It is located in heart of the city near the Rabindra Sadan Metro Station. People can book movie tickets from bookmyshow or app also. It's official owner is Government of West Bengal. I have personally watched many uncountable films here in Nandan. So, I would definitely say to you all to watch films in Nandan and get a glimpse of old Kolkata days.

Went on a weekday evening last week on a sudden impulse after a trip to a couple of nearby attractions. Was surprised that 4 movies currently in Nandan I and II were all 'commercial' (though a few of them are vying for the 'off-beat' tag) Bengali movies.
There is nothing wrong in that and given the multiplexes kind of shoo away the vernacular and standalone hollywood hosts like New Empire and Lighthouse had to shut shop for lack of profit, this is a well-meaning and well-directed move. However, it still felt like Nandan has come down a bit from its "aantel (intellectual) pedestal" off late.
Nandan II still issues tickets without any seat number assigned. However, had no crib about seating or facilities.

Last weekend I visited Nandan to watch a bengali movie. The ticket price is very much low. The types are Rs 30, 50 & Rs 70. The interior is superb. The ac machines were working nice, the audio quality is good, the screen size is also very good.
