Overview
Calcutta is truly a melting pot of cultures and communities… truly a kaleidoscope of various shades, flavors and sights that make Calcutta what it is today! This tour will help you understand a little bit of India and how so many religions and faith form the very fabric which is India. Find out amongst others about the Chinese who made Calcutta their home and gave Calcutta its amazing Chinese food. Find out the oldest surviving Christian tomb in the city, walk into synagogues which have stood for centuries within whose walls time still stands still. Taste local food and witness life as it unfolds right in front of you. Discover amazing facts about the Parsis and find hidden gems in the middle of nowhere. So many cultures and so many communities co-existing side by side, reminds one of the famous 1982 number one by Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder – Ebony and Ivory.

The photo tours I took were outstanding. The subject matter was terrific and very photogenic. You WANT Manjit to be your guide because he knows everyone and every place. When you approach with him as your guide, the people you meet immediately trust you and welcome you. I got beautiful portraits of people who might turn away if the photographer is a stranger. But not on this tour. Everyone was happy to get in the picture. Be ready to be in some heat and to be on your feet for several hours. If you come from a hot place (like I do in Texas) then it is pretty average high heat. I took the Culture Kaleidoscope Tour and the Markets Tour. Both of them presented dozens of chances to photograph Kolkata's amazing street action.

I have always loved Calcutta. This Feb I saw an entirely different Calcutta - a city frozen in time, a city who likes to move at its own pace, a city where every turn leads to a whole new city in itself. Going for a photowalk with Manjit was an absolute delight! I got an opportunity to do a solo trip (well pandemic!) and boy that was the best decision I took after sleeping for only 3 hrs! Highly recommend this trip to all photography enthusiasts or culture enthusiasts. Go for this tour to experience the rawness and realism of Calcutta.

"We took the Kaleidoscope tour with Manjit. He speaks fluently in Bangla, Hindi, English and of course Punjabi and knows every nook and corner of the place along with its rich history and cultural heritage. When you go for a photo tour you need a few things like an invisible cloak or friendly locals and a map of the place to move around. With Manjit, you get it all. His presence makes everything easy so that you can focus through your viewfinder. Btw, if you are an amateur or a professional who wants to learn more and share his or her experience, Manjit is awesome! Being a photographer himself he has what you call a photographer's eye and skill to assist you anytime you need. If you are in Calcutta with your family or friends looking to know more about the city and capture moments that define this city, there is no better than Calcutta Photo Tours
