The Birla Mandir is built in a contemporary style & has three impressive shikhars. Shlokas & pictorial depictions from the Bhagavad Gita are engraved on the marble walls.

All the idols inside – Radha Krishna, Shiv, Durga, Shakti, Hanuman, Ganesh, Dashavtars – are bewitching!

Visit at the time of the aarti.

Note – Photography is prohibited inside. Cell phones have to be switched off. The shoe counter is located at the bottom of the stairs.

Stunning and well looked after. Very clean. The detail is really something. I had a guide with me and there is so much to learn. Footwear must be removed before entering. You can only take a photograph from the outside or on the steps before you enter. They are very strict with this.

Visited on Dec 2021 with my family. We clubbed some shopping at Gariahat and a festival at Ice skating rink beside Birla museum. We walk all through to this temple, visited and the proceed towards Gariahat area. Birla temple is famous now, a sightseeing spot loved by the Kolkata visitors. Keep 1 to 2 hours in hand for experiencing it fully. Worth visit.

The name Birla Temple is a misnomer,as the correct name of this grand temple made with white marble is called Radha Krishna Mandir. Just because it was built by the famous business house in India - The Birlas, colloquially is has been known as the Birla Temple

The temple is located in South Kolkata near Ballygunge Phanri area.

Paid car parking is in the alleys at either side of the Temple. Alight from your vehicle in those alleys ,and walk towards the main entrance. If you get down right in front of the temple,it is barricaded. There is a considerable rush with a long queue on Sunday evenings for evening arati, the prayer.

You have to keep your belongings as well as shoes at a designated area, just beside the temple, before you can climb the stairs. Refrain from taking pictures inside,as it is strictly prohibited. There are security guys keeping a watch inside along with lots of CCTV cameras. So beware of getting caught.

The inside is magnificent, with intricate designs created on white marble. The main temple is Radha Krishna temple, with Durga and Shiv temple on either side. There is a Dash Avatar (10 incarnations of Lord Vishnu ) temple as well as a Hanumanji temple and a Ganeshji temple .

The forecourt is huge and lot of people can be found either lazing out on it or just getting some mental peace.

The ground floor on top of which the forecourt is , houses a Hall where usually Theater festivals take place.

Overall an extremely nice experience for us,on top of which we were lucky to catch the evening Arati as well

Built after a long long waiting period for Kolkatans, this temple is very good in ambience, infrastructure and overall environment. The holy lighting celebrations in the evenings (Aarti) are wonderful to watch. Parking arrangements should be made by the Trustees, as this is located on one of the busiest streets in South Kolkata.

Recently, I alongwith my family members went to Birla Mandir. The Mandir was very nice. The place is quite large. The problem is the car parking. You will never get car parking area available. So that you have to keep your car in a long distance from the Mandir

Also known as the Birla Mandir is a marble marvel of the town. Very neat and calm and is located towards South Kolkata. You should visit the temple if in town. Like the other Birla Temples in the country this is also a treat to the eyes.

Sorry the title is almost slanderous. The temple is really well built and as is the case with Birla temples... well managed. It is peaceful and is open to all... I like that bit. Not sure they would let people in shabby clothes in though. Must try that once.
But I like the way they make temples and name them Birla temple... so what deities do we have in there?
